SUBJECT: Integration into Society and Employment of People with Mental Disabilities.
CIRCULAR LETTER NO (42) TO OUR CHAMBERS
REFERENCE; “The Project of Comparing Working Techniques in Schools for Special
Needs (WORKSEN)” no.2011-1-TR1-LEO04-24209-3
With the saidproject that we participate in as a project partner, there have been
activities intended for the importance of cooperation with the sector for innovations in
vocational education for our students with special needs, sharing experience, comparing the
curricular content, famliy training, the integration to social and professional life.
Children with mental disabilities constitute an important part of children with special
needs. For this reason, in order to prevent the isolation of people with mental disabilities from
the society, the continuity of the following and such activities are taken as a basis:
1. The integration and rehabilitation of people with mental disabilities,
2. Education – training activities according to their conditions and skills,
3. Employment of people with mental disabilities according to the skills they have
acquired
Among the objectives and strategies of our project, improving the cooperation
between the school and the sector in order for children with mental disabilities to be employed
in appropriate lines of work according to the skills they have acquired.Thus, children with
mental disabilities will contribute to the economy of the country and they will have the
awareness of citizenship.
Accordingly, the students from Hurin Yavuzalp Vocational School, one of our project
partners, gained a two-day working experience in establishments member to our chambers
affiliated with our association.
This two-day work experience has showed us that children with disabilities have no
diffucilty in adapting not only to social life but also to business life when given chance and
opprtunity and it has been gladly observed that in order to contribute to their family and the
economy of the country, they made a great effort.
For this reason, it is considered significant that the establishments the facilities and
working conditions of which are appropriate provide employment for people with disabilities
in the establishments member to our chambers affiliated with our association in terms of their
providing contribution the economy of the country by easing the burden of the families of
people with disabilities and by preventing the risk of isolation.

Furthermore, it is important that among the establishments member to our chamber, the ones
willing to employ the graduate students of Hurin Yavuzalp İş Okulu contact the Project
Assistant Sinem Aslan through the phone numbers of our Association: 310 22 44 – 310 22 45.
We kindly request informing our members of our affiliated chambers in regard to the
importance of this issue.
