allowed in Salt Lake City?
A: July 1-7 & July 21-27
Q: What times of day can
fireworks be discharged?
A: Between 11am and 11pm
(extended to midnight
on July 4 and July 24)
Q: Can my neighbor set off fireworks in the street?
A: Fireworks can be used in neighborhoods, unless they fall within one of the
below restricted areas:
a. All areas east of Foothill Drive, and east of 1300 E to 500 S, including the U of U campus
b. All areas north of South Temple to State Street and North Temple to 200 W
c. City Creek Canyon
d. East of 200 W / Wall Street to 300 W
e. East 300 W north of Wall Street through Beck Street to the city limit to the north
f. All city parks and wildland urban interface areas
g. All areas west of I-215
Q: It sounds like my neighbor is setting off small atomic bombs. Is that legal?
A: Only Class 1.4G fireworks that cannot travel more than 15’ in to the air (vertically) or
10’ on the ground (horizontally) are state approved for residential use. The following list
of firework types is PROHIBITED for sale or use in Utah:
a. A firecracker, cannon cracker, ground salute, M-80, Cherry bomb, or other similar explosive
b. A skyrocket or any missile-type rocket
c. A single shot or reloadable aerial shell
d. Rockets including an aerial salute, a flash shell, a comet, a mine, or a cake containing more
than 500 grams of pyrotechnic composition
e. A bottle rocket or a roman candle / a rocket mounted on a wire or stick
