2. The girl from the orphanage
• Matthew and Marilia,
who are 60 years old and
need help with their
farm, decide to adopt an
orphan boy.
• But the orphanage sends
them an 11 year-old girl,
called Anne.

3. Anne
Anne is a lovely person
who talks all the time
and makes Matthew and
Marilia like her.

4. Mrs Lynde comes to visit …
One day a neighbour,
Mrs Lynde, visits the Green
Gables and meets Anne.
Mrs Lynde finds Anne
“ugly” and Anne calls Mrs
Lynde “impolite”.

5. Anne & Diana
Anne goes to
Sunday School
where she meets
Diana Barry and
they become
good friends.

6. Problems at School …
• School begins and Anne is the best student in the class.
• Gilbert, one of her classmates, pulls her hair and Anne hits him.
• Then the teacher punishes Anne and she decides to quit school.

7. More problems…
Anne invites Diana home and she
offers her wine instead of juice !
One day Anne makes a cake using
medicine and not vanilla!
When Diana had a party, Anne fell
from the roof and broke her leg !

8. Anne’s new dresses !
A new school year began and Marilia
made some beautiful dresses for Anne to
wear for the Christmas concert.
One evening Marilia came home to find
Anne with green hair!
Marilia cut Anne’s hair very short!

9. Anne’s new plans …
• Anne was now 16 years old and
she decided to go to the Teachers
College.
• Gilbert wanted to be a teacher too.
• A year passed and Anne came
home.
• Matthew was very tired because he
worked very hard at the farm. The
next day he died.
• Anne decided to stay with Marilia
and teach at the local school.

10. Anne’s special friend…
Finally, Anne and Gilbert
became good friends !!!
