Using Telefonica infraestructure and autonomous drones for early fire
detection
Developed by Telefonica in collaboration with partners Dronitec, Divisek and the Intelligent Systems Lab, from
Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, developed an anti-fire solution to fight forest fires using Drones.

Key findings
The usefulness of Drones has been demonstrated for
this use case
To cover big areas the Telco Towers are a very helpful
infrastructure because:
• Sensors can detect fires 15km around (in ideal conditions of visibility)
• Drone’s autonomy were limited to 30 minutes
In this Pilot, using 3G network for video was good
enough
