2. Research
• We did extensive research into our audience by looking at other social media platforms such
as Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and Pinterest . By doing this we gained lost of knowledge into
what sort of things these platforms were used for and what was been searched and looked
for on them so we could then gain an idea of the sort of things we should include. By doing
this it showed what style we should lean towards due to how much of our audience use that
specific social media which really helped when it came to production as we knew exactly
which way to go in terms of what social medias we should use as inspiration. Whilst also
making sure we show off all our work clearly as everything on our website was made by us so
we didn’t want anything to not be seen.
• We also made an audience profile, this was to get an idea of the sort of person we are
tailoring our project too so we outlined details about what they are like what their goals are
and what we feel they would like to see and what they wouldn’t like to see whilst also giving
some idea about how they would look as our project is about fashion so we felt this was very
important.
• We then went onto create a survey to get a general idea of what the people around us think
when they hear the name the gird and also too find out how long they spend on social media
and also what social media they use, this is all just so we know exactly what we should and
shouldn’t include.
• I feel the weaknesses of the research where that we couldn’t really do any subject research
as that all came under the existing products which mean we could reaklly find anything that
similar to what we made so we had to really design and make everything from scratch whilst
trying to take whatever inspiration we could from existing social media
3. Planning
• When it came to planning there wasn’t that much that we needed to plan but
instead just make sure what we did plan was to a good standard and to a
standard that would really help impact the work. So we made sure that we
had all of our locations for the photography side ready and also make sure that
on the day it would be available and also make sure that we knew when to go
for the best conditions, we also the went on to make a production schedule
each so we both knew exactly what we would be doing on each week of
production whilst also making a table going over each thing we would both
have to complete as we both had different sections of the website to do mine
being more focused on the video whilst also making some of the print work on
photoshop.
• I feel the weaknesses where that overall it was that detailed and I think this
costed us a little when it came to production as it meant we would have to go
over things during that time where as if we had done more in the time we had
to plan we would have had to spend time going over it in production, I also
feel this costed us when it came to the visual planning as again we had to
spend time deciding exactly what style we wanted to go for when it actually
came down to the production. I don’t think it was the biggest thing as we did
have a clear idea of what style we were going for but I feel if we had planned
and had more references it might of meant we could of made and displayed
more on the website
4. Time Management
• When it came to time management I feel during the planning
process and the research we got everything done on time and
before the deadline, this was good as it meant when it came to
production we didn’t have to go back and complete any previous
work, although this was good I feel us making sure it was done on
time meant we couldn’t get it to as high a standard as I feel we
could of if we had more time and I think this did end up having a
slight effect on our production especially when it came to the
planning as I feel that’s what lacked quality the most and I feel that
was due to the time we had and also how we used that time.
• If we had had more time I would of definitely gone back and
improved the planning whilst also adding another video and even
adding a part with a blog so people can add their feedback and can
talk about what's on the website as I feel it would of given the
website more of a social media feel similar to Pinterest.
5. Technical Qualities
• Comparing the work to existing products is very hard and even when it came
to research we found existing products really hard as we couldn’t really find
anything out there that was similar to what we made so instead we just took
ideas from different social medias the two main ones being Pinterest and
Instagram as we feel that format was the best way to display our work whilst
also giving it that social media feel even with it being a website.
• When it came to the technical side of the work I really feel our experience and
past work really showed as with the video I felt from all the stuff id done
whether it be my music video or two documentaries I did and although they
are very different to what I made for the grid, I think it really helped me when
it came to the editing as I had gained the skills I needed to be able to create
something that looks good whilst also challenging myself and also making
something unique.
• I also think when it came to the photoshop work we did retally well as for me I
don’t really get the chance to use Photoshop as I specialise in video so getting
that opportunity was amazing and also working with someone like tom who is
very good with the software and being able to learn of him and trade skills and
ideas I really felt helped take the work to the next level.
6. Aesthetic Qualities
• Throughout the project we realized that by using fashion it would mean there were a
lot more options when it came to production. I feel this decision made our project
improve tenfold as the pictures we got and used, and the style of website really
compliment each other and help to create something we were confident our audience
would appreciate and would enjoy.
• I felt this was the part of the project that went the best as I feel everything turned out
amazing and I feel everything looked outstanding from the photography to the video
and even all the posters that were all created by us on photoshop. I felt it looked so
professional and the quality was so high which was something i was so proud of and we
anted to make sure we were creating things that wouldn’t be out of place on a famous
brands social media or website and I honestly feel we achieved that.
• I feel everything weas so creative and I feel the direction we took the idea of the grid in
was so different and unique as something I felt no one else did and to create something
that looked that professional whilst also tailoring it to an audience and using the idea
given to us, I feel we really did the best we could and that was down to our creativity
and imagination.
• There wasn’t much I felt we could of improved on other than maybe including another
video and maybe a blog on the website as when it came to the aesthetic and looks I felt
we did an outstanding job and made exactly what we ere hoping make.
7. Audience Appeal
• Our theme for our project was illusion and future. We decided to
incorporate fashion into this as well and decided to create our own
website tailored to our specific audience. I think what attracted me most
to the project was having to do it to a specific audience, but we also
wanted to make it different from what everyone else was doing and I feel
that made the whole project more interesting.
• I think due to the fact that a lot of our planning and research was audience
based I feel it really meant we made something that was exactly what we
wanted to and also was exactly what we felt would suit our specific target
audience, this was due to a lot of things from the amount of feedback we
got throughout the whole of our production and even things like the
survey just really helped make us be able to create something suited to
our audience.
• Even things like the video really suited the audience as I took big
inspiration from a vogue Instagram post when it came to making that
video and as that’s the sort of audience we were going for I feel it really
helped when it came to making sure it fit the audience.
9. Feedback 1- Albert
• What did you like about the product?
– I really like how every section of the website offered
something new and something great to look at and
the mix of photography along with photoshop skills
and even the video editing to go with it just really
helped create something cool and exciting and was a
cool take on the grid concept
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• There isn’t really much I would of improved other than the
banner of the website gets in the way of the video so if there
was any way of improving that I feel that could help a lot.
10. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– I really like the layout of it all and all the colours
really match together, i also really like how things
change when hovered over
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– one thing i would change is the banner at the top
it would make it easier to look at everything if it
was a bit smaller.
11. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
– i really appreciated the honesty in the feedback as I feel it
showed not only what we can improve but also lets us know
what we did well and also shows that the work we put in can be
seen and can be praised, with the banner we know that that is
an issue and have tired to fix it but unfortunately there was no
way around it which we weren’t happy with.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
– There wasn’t anything that I disagreed with as I feel they
where both fair assessments of our product and the
negatives were things that we are aware of and have tried
to put right.
