1. “SMALL MINDS”

FADE IN:
DISCOVERY
PEDRO is listening to music whilst walking on his way to
college. He makes it to a road and begins waiting. He
begins getting restless whilst waiting and looks around,
noticing a cardboard box that has been discarded on the
pavement to his left. Confused, he picks it up and reads
the writing that is scrawled on the front of it. “MAGIC
BOX”. Even more intrigued, he opens the box and finds that
inside is a pair of headphones, with the writing “MAGIC
HEADPHONES” scribbled onto it.
PEDRO
(turning the headphones and examining
all angles of it)
Huh.
CUT TO BLACK
CUT FROM BLACK
PEDRO continues to walk to college, this time wearing the
“Magic” headphones, rather than the ones he was wearing
before. Nearing the end of his short walk, he sees his
friend DONALD in the distance waiting for him.
PEDRO
(taking off the headphones and
greeting MILES with a handshake)
What's up man.
DONALD
Nothing much man… what are those, I ain’t
see you wear those before.
PEDRO
Oh these? They’re my new magic headphones,
got em this morning.
DONALD
Magic headphones?

PEDRO
Yeah man, magic headphones.
DONALD
Ok but how are they magic.
PEDRO
Huh, guess I didn’t think of that till
now.
DONALD
(snatching headphones from PEDRO)
Gimme those.
MILES turns around the headphones multiple times and sees a
button underneath the “MAGIC” label. Intrigued, he presses
it and puts them on.
DONALD
(turning to PEDRO)
Damn, guess they aren’t magic after a-
MILES then abruptly stops speaking and drops his jaw.
PEDRO
(thinking)
Wow, I really should have had a shower
this morning
DONALD
Oh. My. God.
PEDRO
What?
DONALD
J-just put these on.
PEDRO
Alright if you say so.

PEDRO puts on the headphones and looks at DONALD.
DONALD
(thinking)
Can you hear me
PEDRO
Holy shit man. Do you know what we can do
with abilities like this!
DONALD
I hope you’re thinking what I’m thinking.
PEDRO and DONALD look at each other with anticipation
CUT TO BLACK
CUT FROM BLACK
The pair are sitting on a bench sipping juice boxes whilst
reading everyone’s mind who walks past. After reading
various minds, PEDRO spots MILES standing in a corner by
himself.
PEDRO
Oi gimme those for a sec it’s my turn
DONALD
(handing over the headphones)
Alright but only for a bit yeah.
MILES
(thinking)
Where am I going to hide it, no evidence,
no witnesses. Need to get this blood off
my hands. He had it coming to him we all
know it, I’m doing the world justice by
putting him 6 feet under, yeah that’s
right I’m not in the wrong here.
PEDRO slowly lowers the headphones off his head and looks
in shock and horror.

DONALD
(not paying attention and
turning his head to MILES)
Bet he has a crush on his sister haha the
absolute weirdo.
