FADE IN:
EXT. LOCAL PARK - DAY
In a local park, it is a bright and sunny day and there are
no clouds on the sky. Maddie walks into the park through a
gate and it loudly shuts behind her as she slowly walks
towards an empty bench on the other side of the park.
She gets her phone out briefly and looks at the time before
sitting down on the bench with her feet up next to her. She
pulls her jumper closer to her body as a breeze sweeps past
and pulls out an e-book from her pocket.
It reads:
MADDIE sighs loudly and puts some headphones in her ears
before going back to reading.
Suddenly another person enters the park, MADDIE ignores
them and continues to read her book. She jumps when she
feels a hand on her shoulder and looks up while pulling one
headphone out of her ear.
MADDIE
Oh my god! You scared me. Can I help you
with anything?
A young girl stands directly in front of MADDIE with a
smile on her face
MEGAN
Sorry about that it just looked like you
needed the company so I thought I’d join
you. My names Megan by the way, I think we
should be mates.
MADDIE
What makes you think that we should be
friend’s. I don’t even know who you are.
Shouldn’t I be shouting stranger danger?
MEGAN sits down next to MADDIE as she moves her legs from
the bench to the ground.

MEGAN
I have a feeling that it only applies to
creepy men but I think we should get to
know each other.
MADDIE
And what makes you think that we should be
friends?
MEGAN
Well, I saw you sat here by yourself and I
thought you could use the company, you
looked lonely sat here just reading a
book, what is that book by the way? I
won’t read it I just want to know.
MADDIE
There’s no point telling you if you’re not
going to read it is there? I’m not really
sure I want to share what I’m reading with
someone I don’t know
MEGAN
Yeah I guess. At least you know my name.
Anyway, I think we should get out of here
it’s getting boring just sitting here, and
a bit cold, I need to move around a bit.
MADDIE
I really can’t be bothered to move, I came
here to read and I will carry on reading.
You can move around on your own
MEGAN
Okay okay! Chill out, I’ll sit with you
for a bit and let you read.
MEGAN pulls out her phone from her from her pocket and puts
her headphones in and starts listening to music very
loudly. This distracts MADDIE as she starts getting
annoyed. She gets up and starts leaving the park. MEGAN
gets up and starts following her.
EXT. OUTSIDE PARK – DAY

MADDIE walks out of the park and sits on a patch of grass
outside the gate. She sighs to herself and gets her book
out again and continues reading.
MEGAN
What was that for? I didn’t even say
anything. You know what, I think we should
do something fun tonight, me and you to
get to know each other better.
MADDIE sighs again and puts her book away, knowing that she
won’t be able to read in peace when MEGAN is around. MEGAN
sits down next to MADDIE
MADDIE
If I agree to this apparently fun thing
tonight will you leave me alone for now to
read?
MEGAN
(DISMISSIVELY)
Yeah yeah fine. I’ve got a few ideas up my
sleeve. You’re gonna have a crazy night
tonight. It’s going to be great.
MADDIE
What’s this idea you’ve got then? I’m not doing anything
illegal or stupid
MEGAN
Well it’s going to have to be either one or both of those
things, if you agree I will leave you alone for the rest of
the day
MADDIE
Fine, whatever. What time are we meeting and where?
MADDIE and MEGAN exchange numbers and walk in opposite
directions.
EXT. DARK LANE – EVENING
The girls stand at the end of a dark lane, on either side
of the road are trees. MADDIE anxiously taps her foot on
the ground as she stares down the road. The sun is setting

so the girls are able to see where they are going. MADDIE
turns to talk to a relaxed looking MEGAN.
MADDIE
(Hesitantly)
Why are we even here? It’s going to be dark soon and I am
not walking down there in the dark.
MEGAN
Relax. We’re going down there while we can still see, then
were going to wait until its dark
MADDIE
Why are we waiting till its dark? Is there even anything
down there?
MEGAN
There are houses down there, and were waiting until its
dark so that we can try and break into a car
MADDIE
Sorry, what? When you said that were doing something fun I
expected a walk or something not this. I’m going home.
MEGAN
Maddie wait. I promise it will be fine. Nothing will happen
MADDIE
(Annoyed)
FINE! But if something does happen it will be your fault
EXT. RANDOM HOUSE – NIGHT
It is dark outside and the girls are finding it difficult
to see. Megan slowly approaches the car and checks to see
if it’s locked, she pulls on the handle and the car door
opens with ease.
MADDIE
What are you even looking for in that car? You need to
hurry up, you’re stressing me out.
MEGAN

Chill out I’m only looking for CDs, there might be some
good ones
MADDIE
Are you being serious? Are we really putting ourselves in
danger over some stupid CD’S?
MEGAN
Stop talking so loudly, someone’s going to hear us
As MEGAN finishes her sentence, the outside light of the
house turns on as both girls turn to look at each other.
Megan gets out of the car with a handful of CDs.
MEGAN
RUN!
Both girls run back down the dark lane away from the house,
they are breathing heavily and don’t stop until they reach
the end of the lane. They both stop to catch their breath.
MADDIE
That was so scary I can’t believe we did that, I’m never
doing it again though
MEGAN
Don’t worry, I wouldn’t expect you to do it again, let’s
have a look at what I picked up
MEGAN shuffles through the CDs and throws each one on the
floor after she looks at it
MEGAN
I guess there wasn’t any that caught my eye
MEGAN turns to look at MADDIE and they both laugh, still
out of breath, they then embrace.
MADDIE
I think it’s time to go, I’ve had enough for one day
