2. PITCH
Pedro is living an average life as a student. However, one day he stumbles
upon a ‘magic’ box on the side of a street. Inside the box there are a pair
of headphones with the label ‘mind reading’ on them. Intrigued, he puts
them on and continues with his day-to-day life. Soon enough, he realises
that they are actually mind-reading and that he can hear people’s
thoughts. He proceeds to read anyone and everyone’s minds, finding out
all kinds of secrets about people and what they are thinking. However, his
fun is cut short when he reads Miles’ mind, who is planning to kill another
student. Pedro must attempt to save a life before it’s too late.
3. CHARACTERS
Pedro – a hyperactive teenager who is almost always extremely bored.
Once he finds the magic headphones, he becomes unnecessarily nosey, as
it is the only thing that keeps him from being bored.
Donald – Pedro’s friend, suspicious due to Pedro’s obsession with the
headphones, eventually takes them and gets in on the secret.
Miles – a antisocial person. Typically dressed in full tracksuits. Not very
talkative but keeps thoughts to himself.
They will inhabit a seemingly ordinary and generic world.
4. BRANDING
For the font, I believe that ARIAL BOLDwill be suitable
as it will help with conveying the seriousness of the program, as it is a very
clean and concise font.
For colours and graphics, however, there will be very messy and colourful
designs, as it will help to also convey the comedic undertones of the show
leading up to the big discovery.
5. 3 MINUTE OPENING
The opening will contain small amounts of exposition about the show, for
example, it will reveal Pedro finding the box and headphones and lurking
around testing it. It will also introduce Donald, who will find out about the
headphones. Finally, nearing the end of the three minutes, it will be
revealed that Miles is plotting to kill someone.
The short will begin comedic, but will end on a more sinister note. Donald
will be there, however, to break the tension and act as a somewhat
comedic relief.
