• Dwayne Jones serves as the managing partner of
Urban Equity, LLC, a consulting firm that develops
and closes business relationships throughout the
nation. Dwayne Jones is also integrally involved
with Urban Ed Academy, a San Francisco-based
nonprofit academy that he founded.
Urban Ed Academy focuses on educating boys of
color who live in disadvantaged or impoverished
communities. One of the key components of the
curriculum extends beyond academic achievement
and involves building cultural awareness.

3. Urban Ed Academy
• Academy staff members reflect the diversity of the
children they mentor, as many are of Asian-Pacific
Islander, Latino, and African American descent. These
rich cultural traditions are emphasized within the
classroom, through ethnic recreational programs, and in
visits to area museums. Students are encouraged to
research and celebrate cultural holidays as a means of
expanding their knowledge of traditions around the
world.
