Unit 4 - Sound
Evaluation
Have you met the aims of the brief- in terms of audience,
topic, format set by Culture East?
I feel that I’ve met the brief in terms of the audience, topic and format. In terms of the audience, I
feel that I’ve met my target audience because the interviewee is in the same age group as the
audience. Also, the language that I’ve used and the language the interviewee has used relates to
modern London slang which most young people use. In terms of the topic, I feel that I stuck to my
topic well. I feel this because I didn’t come off topic, I always stayed on track and I kept the
conversation I had with the interviewee and kept it topic related.
What are the strengths of your audio (what worked well?)
I feel that my strengths were that at some points I kept it entertaining. I done this
by making jokes with the interviewee which would potentially make the audience
laugh. Also, I feel that the main strength is that I met my target audience very well.
My target audience is for teenagers and young adults because of the theme of my
podcast which is about gangs and also the type of music I chose is suitable for the
target audience as it relates the genre of my podcast and what my podcast is about
which is gangs. It will be easy for the audience to understand as it may relate to
them.
What are the areas for improvement (what could be better?).
I think I can improve on my recordings a little bit more. I feel that some points of
my recording was a bit shaky in terms or when me and the interviewee was
speaking. Some bits you could hear me slide the script across the table. Sliding it
against the table would destroy the recording and it may create distorting whilst
recording. To resolve this and to make it better in the future, I plan to just hold the
script instead of sliding it against the table. Also what I need to work on is speaking
a bit more clearly and slower. How I am going to resolve this is by practicing
recording myself speaking until I am able to speak slower and more clearly as on
some parts I was speaking so fast that me and the interviewee was stuttering
sometimes.
