4. Can you give a definition of the term “group
work”?
5. Group work a form of cooperative learning. It aims to cater for
individual differences, develop students' knowledge, generic
skills ( communication skills, collaborative skills, critical
thinking skills) and attitudes.
7. There are:
joint experience caused by solving problems by the group;
formation of one's own point of view;
improvement of the psychological microclimate in the lesson.
8. What is the developmental value of the group
work?
9. It is development of thinking;
development of communication skills;
development of independence and activity, self-confidence;
development of skills in goal-setting, control, evaluation, self-
control, mutual control, self-esteem;
11. From my point of view a group consists of 4 students because they show
great inclination to express themselves freely and do not hesitate to express
their opinion. If there are more than 4 people the number of active students
is decreasing. In a too small group (2 - 3 people), the difference in the level
of academic performance is particularly obvious and can disturb the
comfortable microclimate in the group.
13. Proper, thoughtful manning of groups is one of the important conditions for
effective organization of group work. We should pay attention to 2 signs:
- Level of educational success of students
- The nature of interpersonal relationships
Students can be grouped:
- By homogeneity of educational success;
- By heterogeneity (the most productive work groups formed from students with
high educational opportunities. These students have the skills of independent work.
15. While children are getting used to new forms of work,
it is better not to create permanent groups. They must
be permanent only in the framework of work on one
task, project, topic.
17. It depends on class. If there are many people in a class
it is difficult to use this form because they make a
noise and it's hard to keep track. But I try to use group
work in each class at least once a month
19. Especially often the group form of the teaching work
is practiced in the formation of skills. After the frontal
fixing of the teaching material, I suggest that the
students jointly do the exercises, solve examples,
tasks.
21. I organize independent, cognitive, research, creative
activity of students, to explain the goals of the
forthcoming work and solve the arising problems,
using the extracted facts.
23. Group work can help hone your students' skills in:
listening to and respecting others' ideas;
thinking about one problem in a variety of ways;
getting to a deeper level understanding through having to explain a
perspective and discuss it with folks with different perspectives;
dividing up tasks and delegating responsibilities;
sharing knowledge and abilities to get a better hold on a problem than they
could individually.
25. When a wide variety of people start to work in a group, disagreement is sure
to arise between all the people in the group. Each person may have their
own ideas which could conflict with what the other person has to suggest.
Some people in a group might also find it difficult to accept suggestions or
ideas from another person, as they would rather everyone else accept their
ideas or suggestions. This conflict, could as well put a stop to the flow of
work, until the issue is resolved.
