2. About the Project:
Introduction of new structural lift and stair core,
plus construction of a new 5th floor structure in
parliamentary district of Westminster.
Deconstruct were contracted to demolish a former
stair core within this four storey building and
constructed a new reinforced concrete core from
the basement to a new 5th floor level.
There were a number of key structural alteration
packages carried out including removal of a
secondary stair core and
the introduction of new steel framing and slabs.
The introduction of an entire new mansard roof with
all joisting and carcassing was also carried out.
3. Project Challenges:
To design and install a temporary works
scheme that could allow the creation of a
significant basement foundation for the new
stair and lift core.
Fast-track fabrication and installation of a new
steel mansard roof construction, developed in
conjunction with the client design team to
then complete a comprehensive carpentry
package.
The local area required strict vehicle and noise
management controls to ensure successful
delivery.
