4. Maintaining
Your
Salaah
By Munira (Year 4 AlImah)
Assalamu Alaikum wa
Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu.
Today I will be discussing the
importance of salah, how to
maintain it, and ways to improve
Khushoo' during prayer. This topic
is eye opening for everyone - young
and old - as it will allow a person to
refresh their intentions and
improve their 5 daily obligations.
Salaah is obligatory upon every
Muslim 5 times a day to develop
taqwa (consciousness of Allah).
Similarly, it's steadfastness is just as
important as Allah says in the
Quran (23): "Certainly, the believers
have succeeded, those who are
during their prayer humbly
submissive."
Learn to love salaah as this is where
you gain a close connection to Allah
and it is additionally a means of
cleansing your sins. When you
become lazy, motivate yourself by
reminding yourself of the hereafter.
Scrutinise the lives of the Prophet
(saw) and the Sahabah, and their
love, enthusiasm and steadfastness
on their salah.
Begin to fill your heart and mind
with Allah and His remembrance
as much as you can. Make that a
habit and slowly salah will be like
coming home to a friend. The
One who is absolute with no
defects. The Almighty who listens
to all your needs and is always
available for you to reach out to
Him.
During your salah, pour out your
heart to Allah. You have your 5
daily appointments with him so
make the most of it! Just how we
give so much importance to our
doctor's appointments and
ensure we are present and
punctual, even more importance
should be given to our
appointments with Allah.
Lastly, always refresh your iman,
constantly make the habit of
reciting the kalimah and
reminding yourself of your main
goal in life. The kalimah is such
that it light on the tongue and
we do not even need to move our
mouth for it!
I pray Allah opens our hearts and
allows us to maintain our salah in
these difficult times. May He
strengthen our Iman and lead us
to the path of Jannah. Ameen.

your salah, the easier it will be to focus

5. Shaykh Yusuf Motala was one of the most influential
scholars in contemporary Britain who played a key role
in the propogation of Islam in the UK. Born in India,
1964, he memorised the Quran at a young age and
began his Alimiyyah studies in Jamia Husaainia. In
1966, he enrolled at the famous Mazahirul Uloom in
Saharanpur, where he studied under leading scholars.
During 1968, he came as an Imam to the UK. A couple of
years later, through the advice of his teacher Shaykh
Zakariyya Kandhalwi, he intended to set up the first
full-time madrassa in Europe. However, he was
laughed at due to his age when he sought help to set-up
a madrassa in a small town called Bury. Bury was also
located in a place where there weren't many Muslims.
Nevertheless, his drive and ambition led him to set up
the first ever UK madrassa, Darul Uloom Al Arabiyyah
Al-Islamiyya, in Bury in 1973. Since then thousands of
scholars and huffadh have graduated and have gone
on to establish many other madrssas and mosques all
over the world, including places like Portugal, USA and
Barbados!
The Shaykh was known to follow the sunnah of the
Prophet (saw) closely and his loving and kind
character. May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaws
and accept all his sacrifices.

6. Darul Ilm
International
Darul Ilm offers full-time and part-time Alim
and Alimah classes in our premises, which is
based in Birmingham, but we also
accommodate courses online via the innovative
system of Wiziq.
Our students are from all over the globe
including the following countries: USA,
Canada, Mexico, India, Trinidad, UK, France,
Sweden, Denmark, South Africa, Germany,
Bahrain, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Japan,
Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and New
Zealand.
We aim to promote the true image of Islam to
Muslims and non-Muslims alike. In the current
political climate, a true reflection of what it
means to be Muslim and what ideals we stand
for are of tantamount importance. We work
tirelessly to establish links with other Muslim
communities across the globe and we are keen
to develop our networks in order to promote
unity and brotherhood.

7. I am an American, born in
Kentucky. I reverted to Islam in
2003 at the age of 42. Islam has
filled the hole I had in my heart.
Islam is simple. Islam is
peaceful.
'How did it happen?' you may
ask. I read the Quran. That was
all it took! I went to the library,
got myself a copy of the Quran
and read it from front to back.
That was it.
However, being a Baptist, I had
some issues to contend with. I
got another book, 'What Did
Jesus Really Say?' That
answered a lot of questions for
me.
Also, during recent college
study, I had taken a religion
course which had touched on
some of the questions I had.
I have since then read the Quran
several times and several
versions of Hadith. I am always
in the process of trying to learn
Arabic so that I can read the
Quran in its natural language.
There is so much to learn and
research!
I am glad to be a Muslim and
ask Allah to always keep me a
Muslim. Ameen
