Islam is one of the largest religions in the world, with over 1 billion followers. It is a monotheistic faith based on revelations received by the Prophet Muhammad in 7th-century Saudi Arabia. The Arabic word islam means “submission,” reflecting the faith's central tenet of submitting to the will of God. Followers of Islam are called Muslims.
Last Sermon of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) is very comprehensive. While it aims at developing a social system based on justice, it underlines a balanced family life, individual accountability and spiritualism by keeping relationship with Allah, and duty of each individual to communicate the right knowledge to others.
Islam looks at life as indivisible whole, and (unlike various dogmas) does not artificially split life into secular (political, social, economic etc.) and religious (prayer, supplications, customs) domains.
14 learning points from our Prophet’s final Friday sermon.Syukran
This friday sermon was the last friday sermon delivered by our Prophet during the famous hajj called “Hujjatul Wida”. Our prophet PBUH touched the importance of human rights, brotherhood, family life and financial institution in a very brief sermon.

The farewell address of Prophet Muhammad was indeed addressed to all humankind at all times and for all generations. It encompasses many aspects of life (general and specific).
He laid down the foundation of morality, chastity, modesty, justice, equality, brotherhood, and accountability. He abolished economic exploitation, human enslavement, paganism, transgression, international law and all systems that contradict with the system of Allah (God).
Furthermore, Muslim international law also dealt long ago, before the Dutch lawyer Hugo Grotius (d. 1645ad) who is considered to be the father of international law.

Islam has given a greater importance to the period of youth and value it to a larger degree. Allah and the Messenger of Allah has instructed to use it in a proper way.

I’ll bet you, like me received many good wishes for 2015.
Of course, this happens every year, doesn’t it? We’re told to set goals, make new year’s
resolutions and kick-start our lives.
This is going to be your year, isn’t it?
But, if you’re like me, you might have the post New Year party blues because you too
realise that with all your good intentions of turning over a new leaf and making 2015 the
year where you’re going to make a difference, just isn’t going to happen.
It didn’t happen last year, nor the year before that nor 10 years prior. For me at least. I
still haven’t become this super human who was going to dent the universe (even though
I had every intention of doing so).
My quest to become a better human in 2015 faltered around January 3. I realised that my
plans for better relationships with my family, improving my financial situation, getting
that perfect body, contributing more to my community, learning more and being more
were ... well were just words, just good intentions.
I think the challenge for me is that I live in the future and not in the moment. Because if
you really think about it, January 1, 2015 is just another day, another moment in time in
our journey. Like every other day, it is the only day we have a chance of making a
difference in our lives and in the lives of those we love.
Perhaps we should focus more on being the best human we can be on every day that is
gifted to us rather than being so future-focused.
Perhaps if we are the best mommy/daddy that we can be on this day, the best employee
that we can be on this day and the best leader we can be on this day (every day) we will
see a shift happen in our lives.
I believe if we do this, the future will sort itself out. The ‘one day I will be ...’ will become
‘today’, the ‘I wish I could ...’ will become ‘I did it’ and our dreams for our future will
become our reality today.

2. In conjunction with this new year, let’s maintain our iman and the feeling of fearing God by evaluating ourselves, be passionate in doing ibadah and preventing ourselves from doing sins. Those who are capable of preventing himself from evil act and wrong deeds are among the successful believers. PUSAT ISLAM UNIVERSITI UTARA MALAYSIA ISLAMIC CENTRE UNIVERSITI UTARA MALAYSIA
3. Brothers in Islam Do remember that today is the 1st of January 2010. We are a year older since 2009. The older we become the nearer we are to death, which we cant escape from. {أَيْنَمَا تَكُونُواْ يُدْرِككُّمُ الْمَوْتُ وَلَوْ كُنتُمْ فِي بُرُوجٍ مُّشَيَّدَةٍ...}[ النساء: 78] Meaning: Wherever you may be, death will overtake you even though you be in towers raised high…” PUSAT ISLAM UNIVERSITI UTARA MALAYSIA ISLAMIC CENTRE UNIVERSITI UTARA MALAYSIA
4. Ask ourselves whether we are well prepared to face our death or we are still in the same path of doing sins. If we are in the fisrt category Alhamdulillah but if we are in the second category, think of this verse as mentioned in Quran: {وَلَوْ تَرَى إِذِ الْمُجْرِمُونَ نَاكِسُو رُؤُوسِهِمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ رَبَّنَا أَبْصَرْنَا وَسَمِعْنَا فَارْجِعْنَا نَعْمَلْ صَالِحًا إِنَّا مُوقِنُونَ} [السجدة: 12] Mean: If thou couldst but see [how it will be on Judgment Day], when those who are lost in sin will hang their heads before their Sustainer, [saying:] “O our Sustainer! [Now] we have seen, and we have heard! Return us, then, [to our earthly life] that we may do good deeds: for [now], behold, we are certain [of the truth]!” PUSAT ISLAM UNIVERSITI UTARA MALAYSIA ISLAMIC CENTRE UNIVERSITI UTARA MALAYSIA
5. From that verse, we know that bad things will happen to those who lost in sin, where Allah will ignore their complaints in hereafter. Young age, good health and wealth are the factors that keep believer from the real path. PUSAT ISLAM UNIVERSITI UTARA MALAYSIA ISLAMIC CENTRE UNIVERSITI UTARA MALAYSIA
6. Brothers in Islam We can see that new year celebrations in Malaysiathat celebrated by Muslim teenagers are contradict of that Islamic principle. If this keep happenning we are far from being khaira ummah as Allah mentionedin Quran: PUSAT ISLAM UNIVERSITI UTARA MALAYSIA ISLAMIC CENTRE UNIVERSITI UTARA MALAYSIA
Mean: YOU ARE indeed the best community that has ever been brought forth for [the good of] mankind: you enjoin the doing of what is right and forbid the doing of what is wrong, and you believe in God. It is our responsible to be the khaira ummah which promotes good actions and prevents evil acts. PUSAT ISLAM UNIVERSITI UTARA MALAYSIA ISLAMIC CENTRE UNIVERSITI UTARA MALAYSIA
8. Brothers in Islam As an educated person, let us think what would happen in the future if we aim to be khaira ummah (best ummah) in this world and hereafter. Our Deen never prevent us from celebrating any kind of festivals as long as that festival is in line with Islamic principle. PUSAT ISLAM UNIVERSITI UTARA MALAYSIA ISLAMIC CENTRE UNIVERSITI UTARA MALAYSIA
9. Brothers in Islam Actually, each of us need to reflect and learn something from the year before. The year 2009 was full of happiness and not to forget sorrowfullness that happened in Palestine, Thailand, Afghanistan, Iraq and the latest Indonesia’s tsunami. We must also consider the things happened around us as an individual. PUSAT ISLAM UNIVERSITI UTARA MALAYSIA ISLAMIC CENTRE UNIVERSITI UTARA MALAYSIA
10. We should keep in mind that there are significant effects behind all events; they are helping and guiding us to the realpath. The events remind us of who we really are, where we come from and where do we go after life. We must live our life to the fullest based on the Quran and Sunnah of Prophet. PUSAT ISLAM UNIVERSITI UTARA MALAYSIA ISLAMIC CENTRE UNIVERSITI UTARA MALAYSIA
11. Quran that we possess must be practised in daily life as Allah mentioned: وَلَوْ أَنَّ أَهْلَ الْقُرَى آمَنُواْ وَاتَّقَواْ لَفَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِم بَرَكَاتٍ مِّنَ السَّمَاء وَالأَرْضِ وَلَـكِن كَذَّبُواْ فَأَخَذْنَاهُم بِمَا كَانُواْ يَكْسِبُونَ Mean: Yet if the people of those communities had but attained to faith and been conscious of Us, We would indeed have opened up for them blessings out of heaven and earth: but they gave the lie to the truth - and so We took them to task through what they [themselves] had been doing. PUSAT ISLAM UNIVERSITI UTARA MALAYSIA ISLAMIC CENTRE UNIVERSITI UTARA MALAYSIA
12. Let us make this new year better than last year by increaing our efforts to be the best servant of Allah. Let us do good deeds that Allah want us to do and prevent ourself from evil acts. PUSAT ISLAM UNIVERSITI UTARA MALAYSIA ISLAMIC CENTRE UNIVERSITI UTARA MALAYSIA
