2. Genre
• The magazine will specialise in the genre of
Rock, listing out and reviewing the best local
venues and artists for readers to visit and
watch. This focus will dictate the design of the
magazine, through colour scheme, images and
layout. I have chosen this genre as it is popular
in North London, with many popular venues
offering rock performances.
3. Purpose
• The purpose of the magazine is to inform
readers of all the best rock venues in their
local area. The magazine will focus on
multiple areas of North London, listing the
best venues and the artists that frequent
them along with reviews from fans, readers,
and artists. The magazine will also promote
and advertise venues and upcoming shows
around North London.
4. Form and Distribution
• The magazine will be designed to allow for it to be produced as
both a physical and digital version, giving readers to access the
magazine via the internet. This will greatly expand the audience of
the magazine and will comply with the client brief.
• The physical magazines will have 120 pages whilst the digital
editions will have around 100, with some content removed and
only accessible through buying a physical copy.
• The physical magazines will release once a month, with the digital
copies following the same pattern a week after. The delayed
release of the digital edition will mean that avid readers purchase
the physical copies in order to read it as soon as possible.
5. Price
• The physical copy of the magazine will cost £5.99
per issue, with annual subscriptions available to
have the magazine delivered to readers for £65 a
year.
• A digital copy of the magazine will cost £4.99,
however some content will be limited to the
physical copies only, providing motivation for
readers to purchase physical copies. A
subscription for the digital version will also be
available for £55 a year.
6. USP
• Each copy of the physical magazine will come with a free
limited edition guitar pick each month, serving as collectible
items. The magazine will also offer a rare chance to find a
pick signed by either a local or famous artist featured in
that months issue (Who has performed at the a featured
venue).
• The pick will be designed based on a featured venue, with
some variations during holiday issues (e.g. Christmas,
Halloween, etc...).
• Digital versions of the magazine will include free
downloadable content. This will include; Backstage
interviews, Short recordings of shows at featured venues and
discount codes for ticket fees.

elements of the magazine through the website, for
example; submitting questions for local artists,
posting their own reviews of venues, entering
competitions and much much more.

with the genre of Rock, for example red, black and purple, clearly
portraying the magazines focus to readers.

article inside with a feature article linking to the image and telling the reader
what the main article will be about. The masthead will sit in the top left of the
page, above the main image. The cover lines will line the sides of the page,
listing off the contents of the magazine.
• The double page spread of the magazine will include a tiered list of local
venues and some of the artists that frequent them, as well quotes from
written reviews and ratings from fans, readers, and professionals.

it was at its most popular. The magazine will therefore appeal to them out of
a sense of nostalgia.
• The secondary target audience will be a younger age demographic of 20-35,
as younger audiences tend to enjoy the genre as well. The magazines price of
£4/5.99 will mean that it will be targeted towards the middle class, those who
