A highly accomplished, results-oriented, seasoned media industry professional with a proven track record in all
phases of AM/FM/TV broadcast engineering, computer network design, project management, and client
support. Direct expertise includes managing engineering teams in fast-paced 24/7 operations at both radio and
TV stations, and designing and implementing file-based workflows for broadcast, production, and Internet
operations. Able to manage multiple technical and budgetary projects concurrently, successfully staying on-

Selected Experience:
2014– WGLS-FM (Rowan University, Glassboro, NJ) / Chief Engineer
• Rebuilt transmitter and STL sites, including installation of a fiber-optic audio
transmission link between the studio and STL location.
• Rebuilt and updated the station’s eight-year-old AudioVault automation system, on
both the workstation and server sides.
• Completely re-engineered the station’s audio processing, including installation of a
custom-built composite audio processor, rendering the station both louder and cleaner
than many of the Philadelphia FM stations.
• Streamlined equipment and procedures by implementing Cisco “Hi Fi” Voice Over IP,
making remote broadcasts easier, cheaper, and more reliable, plus abolishing the need
for a telephone hybrid to put callers on the air with perfect quality.
2010–2013 Levas Communications (Philadelphia, PA) / Director of Engineering
• In charge of all technical matters for a family-owned directional AM station.
• Duties included rebuilding the transmitter site and production studios, installing a new
Enco automation system and training operators to use it, and setting up the protocol
for doing remotes from all around the world via 4G wireless and Skype.
• Implemented a unique STL using a mission-critical-grade wireless ISP (less than one
hour of unscheduled outage in three years), and negotiated a 45% discount for a CD-
quality bidirectional stereo program link that matched the cost of the previous 8 kHz
analog mono program line.
2007–2011 Barix USA (St. Paul, MN) / Applications and Sales Engineer
• Sales and customer support for a Switzerland-based manufacturer of audio over IP
hardware devices, widely used by radio and TV stations.
• Authored multiple “how-to” documents, magazine articles and publicity pieces, and
developed new ideas and uses for Barix products.
• Represented the company at industry conventions and local engineering meetings.
2007 Greenstone Media (Hollywood, CA) / Director of Engineering
• All engineering and IT matters for a 24-hour national radio network.
• Spearheaded design of Technical Operations Center and restructured audio
transmission system to affiliates, resulting in better quality and reduced costs.
2. 2004–2005 Multicultural Broadcasting (Los Angeles, CA) / Engineering Manager
• Chief engineer for a cluster of eight AM and FM stations.
• Maintained radio station websites and e-mail for the entire company (500+
employees), as well as IT networks for the West Coast region.
2002–2003 KMPC 1540/Sporting News Radio (Santa Monica, CA) / Chief Engineer
• Managed technical and IT operations for a 50,000-watt Los Angeles-market sports/talk
AM station.
• Rebuilt on-air studio, and designed and installed production studio.
• Integrator for remote equipment and cross-country backhaul for the Sporting News
Radio Network (over 150 stations).
• In-stadium broadcast engineer for Los Angeles Avengers football home games.
1999–2002 Clear Channel Communications (Tucson, AZ) / Market Director of Engineering
• Oversaw engineering operations for seven radio stations and a traffic network.
• Initially hired as chief engineer and IT manager for two Los Angeles FM stations, but
quickly became consultant engineer for special projects for other stations in the
cluster, including KIIS-FM. Promoted to Market Director of Engineering position in
Tucson after one year.
1996–1999 WBPX-TV (Boston, MA) / General Manager, Technical Director, Account Executive
• Directed construction of a half-million-watt TV station and 20,000-watt LPTV station
for Paxson Communications, completed one month early and 25% under budget.
• Promoted to general manager after sign-on, and executed daily operations of a network-
affiliated TV station, including most direct sales and hiring and supervision of a staff of
15 employees.
• Negotiated with cable TV system operators, resulting in the station being viewed in
over 850,000 cable homes within a year of sign-on. WBPX turned a profit in its tenth
month of operation.
1984– Puopolo Consulting (Philadelphia, PA) / Owner and Chief Engineer
• All operations for a full-service high-technology consulting firm, specializing in
technical consulting/service and IT/computer/Internet services. Clients have ranged
from a 10-watt FM to a 50,000-watt directional AM to a five-million-watt TV station.
