Test: reading test - they do individually – may use vocabulary cards and reading
books
Story: “Summer of Fire” pg. 274-295
Procedure: Review story together, discussion and answer questions after each
page, review vocabulary words, prepare vocabulary cards, review and discuss
videos on Yellowstone
HW: Review story, prepare sentences using vocabulary words
Language Arts Objectives: SWBAT understand compound words; with 80%
accuracy.
Materials: 5th grade text
Grammar: Compound words
TE pages: TE 295(g)
Procedures: take spelling test and sentence dictation test
Procedures: writing prompt, (“How does a fire help the forest”), discuss
compound words, review spelling words.
HW: spelling worksheet; write final draft of writing prompt
Evaluation: student participation, teacher observations, and written response
