2. • For my target audience research, I handed out a
questionnaire to a group of people - my intended target
audience. By asking them questions about my media product,
I would be able to create a product which is far more suited
towards my targeted audience. Doing this would mean my
product would more likely interest these people and get them
to view my product.
3. • I asked mainly people in the 16 – 25 age group both male and
female to fill out my questionnaire. This is because the thriller
genre’s typical audience is 18 – 25 year olds mainly female. By
targeting a similar audience, I would be able to focus on
those who are more likely to enjoy the thriller genre of films
and cater for them specifically in my media product.
4. • In my questionnaire, I asked a range of questions related to
the genre of my media product. There is a mixture of open
and closed questions to ensure enough information is
gathered:

• 2: How old are you?
• 3: What is your favourite genre?
• 4: What do you enjoy about this genre?
• 5: Name your favourite film of your chosen genre
• 6: What do you expect to be featured in a thriller film?
• 7: Which genre do you feel a thriller is best combined with?

9. • Using my findings, I can create a media product which will
cater for my targeted audience. I asked about their
age, gender and favourite genre first as a way of ‘grouping’
each participant of the questionnaire and to ensure those
who I ask are my targeted audience. Knowing what they
expect in a Thriller film, I can include these to ensure my
product fits the criteria of the genre. Using the knowledge of
the best combinations of the genre, I can expand on this
understanding to make more interest and relevancy. I can
take aspects from the other most popular genres and include
them also to make my media product cater for more of my
target audience.
10. Evaluation
• In my opinion, I think I could have included more questions in
my questionnaire. A question on which film from the thriller
genre they like the most would help me identify a similar
product to that which I am going to make, and see what they
have in common and perhaps include this aspect in my
product. The questionnaire, among other research, has had a
great impact on my plan for my media product. I now know
what people expect to see in a thriller film, and what they
enjoy about films in general. Overall, I think my research was
successful for me to know and understand my target
audience and what to include in my product.
