There are two types of tape measurements – metric
measurements and imperial measurements.
1. Metric measurement markings represent
measurements in centimeters and millimeters and
meters.
2. Imperial measurement markings represent
measurements in inches and feet and fractions of
inches.

1. Use a clear and correctly numbered tape
measure.
2. Start from number one when taking
measurements.
3. Never take your own measurements.
4. Stand naturally when being measured.

5. Empty the pockets, remove the belt.
6. Follow the correct order of taking the body
measurements.
7. Take note that it should neither be too tight nor
too loose.
8. Record the measurement immediately.

15. BODY MEASUREMENTS
(VERTICAL MEASUREMENTS)
1. Skirt Length. This
measurement is taken at the
side from the waist down to the
desired length of the skirt. Skirt
length may vary depending on
the skirt style.

2. Bust Point Height (Apex
Height). Measurement taken
from the shoulder neck tip bone
down to the apex point/ bust
point.

3. Bust Point Distance (Apex
Distance). Measurement taken
from left to right of the apex
point/ bust point.

18. BODY MEASUREMENTS
(CIRCUMFERENTIAL MEASUREMENTS)
4. Waistline. Taken around the
smallest part of the waist just
above the hipbone. This
measurement should be divided
by two to get the waist scale.

5. Hips. Taken around the fullest
part of the second hip or
buttocks with a tape measure.
The measurement should be
divided by two to get the seat
scale.

21. PERFORMANCE TASK #3
• Direction:
• 1. Prepare two (2) measurement charts in your activity notebook.
One (1) for you and one (1) for your partner (family member in
your house) before taking body measurement.
• 2. Create a video/ picture while Taking Body Measurement. You
can use your mobile phone and send it to your teacher through
google classroom or Facebook messenger.
• 3. Write your own measurement and your partner measurement in
your activity notebook.
