Developed by Samuel Morse and other inventors, the telegraph

The first basic telephone was invented by Antonio
Meucci in 1849, and Charles Bourseul devised a phone
in 1854 but Alexander Graham Bell patented the device
in 1876.

5. Timeline of Media – Phonograph (1877)
The Phonograph was a home audio device that allowed audio to be stored
and transmitted.
It was patented by Thomas Edison in 1877.
6. Timeline of Media – Photographs (1888)
The idea of photographs is more than 1000 years old. George Eastman made
it more available to the public in 1888 and founded the Eastman Kodak
Company in 1892.

Live action TV was introduced to peoples homes in 1936. It allowed us to
transmit media to more people.
Invented in 1928 by Philo Farnsworth.

These were invented in the 1950s but weren’t available for consumers to buy
until 1994. Kodak made the first ever consumer camera followed by Apple.

The first mobile phone was invented and demonstrated by Martin Cooper of

13. Timeline of Media – Personal Media Players (2002)
Personal media players were capable of more the playing songs. Products
such as the iPod built on previous products such as the Walkman and
Discman.
14. Timeline of Media – Smart Phones (2007)
On the 11th of June 2007, apple announced the iPhone. Released in June of
the same year, the iPhone paved the way for all other mobile phones and
provided a great platform for social media and augmented reality.

Launched in February 2004, Facebook was founded by Mark Zuckerberg.
Twitter was created in March 2006 and launched in July of the same year.
Social media has allowed us to be more connected online with companies
such as Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube providing us with instantaneous
communication, news and entertainment.
