There are a few different types of abuse….
3. Emotional + Mental Abuse
Making someone feel worthless, afraid, humiliated
Can include threats, unfair limitations, isolation
All abuse is emotionally

were previously directly

4. Verbal Abuse
Mistreatment of another through their feelings and by
creating fear
Some of the signs are yelling, use of insults and belittling
jokes, criticism
5. Physical Abuse
Use of violence to
control and hurt
another
63% of women at SAGE were physically abused

Unwanted physical affection,
threatening to have an affair,
taking away someone’s right to

Limiting use of finances and therefore access to
food, clothing, health care and other essentials

refusing to pay child support
