5. EASTERN VISAYAS ATTRACTION:
San Juanico Bridge is part of
the Pan-Philippine Highway
and stretches from Samar to
Leyte across the San Juanico
Strait in the Philippines. Its
longest length is a steel
girder viaduct built on
reinforced concrete piers,
and its main span is of an
arch-shaped truss design
6. Lake Danao is a guitar-shaped
lake on the island of Leyte in
the Philippines. The lake is
covering an area of 148
hectares. It is situated in the
2,193 hectares Lake Danao
Natural Park, which also
includes the Amandiwin
mountain range

white but not-as-fine sand.

• Tinikling, the Philippines' national dance is

the most popular cultural dance among
Warays is the Kuratsa, danced during feast
celebrations and special gatherings. The Leyte
Kalipayan Dance Company, a local cultural
group, held highly successful performances
around the world.
11. MUSIC
•Waray people are music lovers whose
folkloric music are mostly ballads in form,
famous of which is Dandansoy while Iroy
nga Tuna (Motherland) is a patriotic song.

Karatong Festival of Dulag,
Leyte (September 7)
The Karatong Festival is a
dance revelry that depicts the
legend of the karatong, which
is a bamboo device used in the
16th century to informing the
townspeople of incoming
Moro marauders.

Padul-ong Festival of Borongan, Eastern
Samar (September 7 or 8)
The Padul-ong Festival is a mythical
presentation of how the image of the Blessed
Virgin Mary was mysteriously transported to
Borongan from Portugal in far-away Europe.
The festival also highlights its connection to
the Lady in White who used to frequent the
Hamorawon Spring, blessing its water with
the miraculous power to heal the locals.

Alzina documented the poetic forms such as candu,haya,
ambahan, canagon, bical, balac,siday and awit.
• He also described the susumatan and pasong early forms of
narratives
• During the Spanish period the balac was called the amoral

ismayling a term delivered from the English word
“smile”
• The same balac and ismayling has been reinvented
to express anti –imperalist sentiments where the

THE LEAST MIRACLE (Carlos A. Angeles)
This was a sonnet about a father and a child who had
a leg impairment.They went to doctor to cure their
child but nothing had happened. So their lastresort
was to go to Faith Healers. Luckily, the boy was
healed. His father wasamazed in turn of events after
his son was healed. Sonnets basically depict the
relation between two different things in orderto send
some message about them. And in that poem, these
are the relationbetween the healing of his son and
how it had brought back the faith in his father.
