FINAL ASSESSMENT REPORT
Based on Dimensions of Reflective Learning by Karen Barnstable (2009), now I will write about my
reflections on my secondary level period.
Thinking back
I really wanted to work with this level because it was the only level where I worked and I wanted
to learn to solve some issues I used to have.
The most positive aspect of this period is that everyone worked even those students who do not
like or are not good at the subject. It was the last practicum period and the last part of the year, I
thought I would be a little tired but I was really motivated.
Four lessons were enough to get to know them at least a little and I was able to manage the
classroom, too. I also believe that it would be a little harder to keep their motivation if we had o
spent more lessons together because they are adolescents. Anyway, I would had the chance to
know them more and negotiate together the topics to work with.
Thinking forward
I would love to continue working with adolescents. While I design the lessons and surfing on the
Internet I found a lot of games to learn for example verb tenses and a lot of possible projects to
develop. If I had the chance to work in secondary level again, I would like to include those kinds of
activities and learn more about their world.
I believe that we are all a little scared of adolescents and their perception of the world, but at least
this group was really nice and they loved to work. In consequence, it was a great experience that I
would like to repeat.
Thinking inward
I was not nervous before starting the lessons with this group because during the observation
period I was able to notice their great development at class and their good behaviour. Of course I
saw normal issues that usually happen with adolescents but the teacher showed me that it was
easy to take control of the situations and encourage them to continue working instead of making
jokes, speak in Spanish or draw.
I am totally satisfied with my performance during this period because of the students’ reaction to
the lessons and that they felt very motivated with my materials and lessons. Of course, this was
something really important to feel confident when standing in front of them
Thinking outward
This group was the one who received my most experienced version as a teacher. Even children and
adolescents characteristics are different in each level or age; I know that they noticed it was not

my first time in front of a class. The English teacher encouraged me to continue developing my
relationship with the students because she valued that. In addition, I believe that her suggestions
before meeting the group were really useful. She told me that they love to work when they feel
comfortable and motivated and that even they are almost 12 years old, they sometimes need a lot
of attention to develop the activities (as this is their first year in Secondary level and there are a lot
of changes comparing with primary school methodologies). This was a really great place to start,
as the teacher did not label her students neither made negative comments about them.
In conclusion, I loved the whole experience and I enjoyed the time spent in each of the three levels
and I feel very lucky about and thankful with the teachers and students I worked with. Of course
time flies and I would like to work again with each level to be able to acquire more experience and
apply all that I learnt during these periods.

Nievas - Secondary level - Final assessment

  • 1. FINAL ASSESSMENT REPORT Based on Dimensions of Reflective Learning by Karen Barnstable (2009), now I will write about my reflections on my secondary level period. Thinking back I really wanted to work with this level because it was the only level where I worked and I wanted to learn to solve some issues I used to have. The most positive aspect of this period is that everyone worked even those students who do not like or are not good at the subject. It was the last practicum period and the last part of the year, I thought I would be a little tired but I was really motivated. Four lessons were enough to get to know them at least a little and I was able to manage the classroom, too. I also believe that it would be a little harder to keep their motivation if we had o spent more lessons together because they are adolescents. Anyway, I would had the chance to know them more and negotiate together the topics to work with. Thinking forward I would love to continue working with adolescents. While I design the lessons and surfing on the Internet I found a lot of games to learn for example verb tenses and a lot of possible projects to develop. If I had the chance to work in secondary level again, I would like to include those kinds of activities and learn more about their world. I believe that we are all a little scared of adolescents and their perception of the world, but at least this group was really nice and they loved to work. In consequence, it was a great experience that I would like to repeat. Thinking inward I was not nervous before starting the lessons with this group because during the observation period I was able to notice their great development at class and their good behaviour. Of course I saw normal issues that usually happen with adolescents but the teacher showed me that it was easy to take control of the situations and encourage them to continue working instead of making jokes, speak in Spanish or draw. I am totally satisfied with my performance during this period because of the students’ reaction to the lessons and that they felt very motivated with my materials and lessons. Of course, this was something really important to feel confident when standing in front of them Thinking outward This group was the one who received my most experienced version as a teacher.   • 2. my first time in front of a class. The English teacher encouraged me to continue developing my relationship with the students because she valued that. In addition, I believe that her suggestions before meeting the group were really useful. She told me that they love to work when they feel comfortable and motivated and that even they are almost 12 years old, they sometimes need a lot of attention to develop the activities (as this is their first year in Secondary level and there are a lot of changes comparing with primary school methodologies). This was a really great place to start, as the teacher did not label her students neither made negative comments about them. In conclusion, I loved the whole experience and I enjoyed the time spent in each of the three levels and I feel very lucky about and thankful with the teachers and students I worked with. Of course time flies and I would like to work again with each level to be able to acquire more experience and apply all that I learnt during these periods.
