*National Merit Scholar (as defined by the National Merit Corporation)

High school students enter the Siemens Merit Scholarship program by taking the
Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®
) and by
meeting published entry/participation requirements. Winners are chosen from a group of
employees’ children who qualify as Merit Program Semifinalists on the basis of their
PSAT/NMSQT scores. Family financial circumstances are not taken into consideration in
the selection of winners. All phases of the competition, including the selection of winners
and payment of awards, are handled by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation
(NMSC), an independent not-for-profit organization.
High school students who are children of regular, active, full-time employees of
Siemens Corporation and its subsidiaries are eligible for the award. Applicants must meet
all requirements for participation in the National Merit Scholarship Program as published in
the PSAT/NMSQT Student Bulletin. An applicant must be a U.S. citizen, in the process of
becoming a U.S. citizen, a permanent resident, or have applied for permanent residence.
