2. 1. This is the first shot of the film. This shot is a medium shot showing
the main character outside the car and her dad talking to her from
inside the car. This shot is used to give context to the film. This shot
makes it clear to the audience why she is outside the car and why she
is dressed how she is. This shot also shows the first title, this is the
production company. Although there are two production company's
shown because it is an indie film. You cant see very much of the mise-
en-scene but from what you can see it looks like it is set in a town.
2. This is the next cut in the film this is an establishing shot, from this
we can see that the mise-en-scene is bright and well lit, it also has an
unique feel because the buildings are different colours and terrace
houses. From this shot you can see it is set in a town. The long shot
illustrates to the audience that the main character is strange and not
the typical teenage girl. This sets up the rest of the film by giving the
audience a hint to what her personality is like. This shot also shows
the next title this is the producer of the film.
3. This shot is another establishing shot of the location of the party.
This is a slight high angle used to make the main character look small
and und4ermined this is emphasised by all the people in the room
looking at her and the audience can onl7y see her face, showing us
that the main focus of the people in the room is the girl and she is
also the main focus of the audience. The mise-en-scene is bright and
colourful due to the fancy dress this demonstrates different
personality's that will be in the film.
3. 4. This is an over the shoulder shot this is to represent the 3 โvโ 1
positions. This shot shows the main character on her own arguing
with 3 others, this adds to the representation that the main
characters is different to the rest of the people in the film. The way
the 3 girls are looking down tells the audience that they do not what
to be associated with the main character. As the arguing continues
between the girls the music starts to build up this is to show that the
main character has had enough and wants to leave.
5. This is a mid shot at a low angle this is to demonstrate the
inconvenience the main character is causing because she is wearing
fancy dress and is different to the rest. This shot is also to show the
contrast between her and the other characters. The way the other
characters laugh at the main character suggests to the audience that
we should feel sorry for the character and not find it funny. This is
done so that the main character is our main focus and we should feel
the emotions she is going through.
6. This is another establishing shot to show the journey the main
character has to go on, this is a representation of the rest of the film
and the journey she has to go on because she is different. The mise-
en-scene is made up of very neutral colour this is to show the
audience that she stands out and is different. This shot also shows
the title of the film. The font is very unique and has characteristics of
someone's hand writing this suggests that this might be the main
characters hand writing in a diary.
4. 7. This is a long shot to show the contrast between the main
character and the other stereotypical girls around her. This shot
shows the main focus to the left of the shot, this is so that the titles
can appear next to them. The mise-en-scene is bright and vibrate,
however it has a haze over it to reflect the main characters mood in
this part of the film. The contrast of the green against the rest of the
colour in the shot emphasises that as the audience we see the main
character as standing out from the crowd because she's different.
8. This shot is a birds eye view this represents the audience and the
characters are looking down on the main character because of her
appearance. The colours in this shot are all natural and not that
bright however because of this the main character stands out, we
also see this because she is in the centre of the shot, this
demonstrates that she is the main focus of audience. In this shot we
see that the characters around her turn and look this illustrates that
she is not normal and is different and they have to look at her again.
9. This is a mid shot, this is to illustrate that the main character is
annoyed. The mise-en-scene in this shot is bright and colourful this
is to represent the personality of the main character, this is shown
again by how bright and vibrant the main characters clothes are. The
flowers in the mise-en-scene suggests that she is a down to earth
girly girl, this point is represented by the pink room and ordiments
this mise-en-scene explains to the audience that the characters is
still childlike and different to the rest of her friends.
