1. What have you learnedfrom your audience feedback? – By AmeliaSommer
I createda surveyto getanonymous
responsesfrommembersof mytarget
audience.Iaskedthemtowrite down
whattheythoughtabout the videoand
whattheythinkcouldhave been
improved- the responseswerevery
useful!
I know that there are big issueswiththe
lipsynchingas the program I usedfor
editingkeptoncrashingandlagging
duringplayback.Itriedmanytimesto
change the file size andediting
techniquesbutthiswas a problemthat
was notresolved- Ihadto judge the lip
synchingwhenIexportedthe videoand
thengo back and edititslightlydifferently
everytime. However,thisfeedbackwas
veryuseful toknow andthat my errors
have beenacknowledgedbymytarget
audience.
I alsoknow about a few lightingmistakes,
but since we useda lotof natural lighting,
thiswas hard tocorrect. I agree with
everysingle one of these responses,and
inthe future Ihope to pay more careful
attentiontothe lightingandthe editingof
my final piece!
Before takingthe survey,Ishouldhave
toldpeople thatthe female singingthe
male songwas intentional.
Thisaudience member
wasn’table to answeron
the surveysite,so they
kindlylefttheircomments
on myart/mediawebpage
Deviantart. Idefinitely
agree withall their
comments,includingtheir
constructive criticismabout
my posterdesigns,of which
I hadn’tnoticedmyself!
2. I thenaskedthe participantstorank
certainaspectsof my video.Ithink
that thiscouldhave beendone ina
more effectiveway,butitappears
that the site takesnote of what rank
everybodygave eachsectionand
thenmade an average score.It
appears(fromthe average score)
that people enjoyedthe editing
most,followedbymis-en-scene,
camera angles,lightingandcolour,
thennarrative.
Again,Ithinkthat thisquestion
couldhave beenaskedand
answeredinabetter,muchclearer
wayfor people tounderstand.A
mistake onmy part!
However,Iam pleasedwiththisresult.Ididpayparticularattentiontothe editingstagesof myvideo,
includingthe use of varioussplitscreensandcolouroverlaysof whichIhave neverattemptedtouse before.
It tookme quite awhile tofindthe righttoolsto use, butoverall I’mveryhappywiththe outcome andI’m
gladthat my targetaudience likesitaswell!
3. I’mveryhappy withthisresult!It
meansthat the audience have made
the linksbetweenmymusicvideo
and myposterdesign,whichis
exactlywhatI hopedtoachieve!
Thisquestionwasbased off this
posterbelow.
I’mveryhappy withthisresultaswell!However,Ican see why
someone wouldsayno,asit doesn’tfollowexactlythe same colour
schemesasthe otherproducts.WhenI askedmy familymembers,
theysaidexactly the same thing!Thiswasgood feedback,asI
considerthisone tobe an experiment- the otheradvertdesignis
my mainone and itsuitsthe rest of the projectmore than this
design.
4. I’mverypleasedwiththisresultalso.
I’mglad that the audience have inferred
a sense of consistencywithinmyproject
and agree that itmatches!Thisis whatI
was hopingfor,soI’m extremelyglad
that my targetaudience thinkthat.

In the future,when
consideringwhattypesof
shotto take,I’ll practise
takinglotsof differenttypes
of the same shotso I have a
lotmore choice (andbeing
able to experimentmore)
whenitcomesto editing.
5. Overall,the mainconstructive criticismIreceivedwasthroughthe shotsandthe lipsyncing.However,Idid
have seriousissueswhich,insome cases,were neverresolved,soIaccept that criticismandnexttime,
whencreatingpostersandvideos,Iwill take more care tofilmmore shots(evenif Idon’tneedthemat first
glance) toreduce the riskof thembeingblurry.I’ll alsoattempttoeditinvariousprograms, soif one does
crash or lag reallybadly,I’ll have experience editingsomewhere else whereIcan achieve the same effect.
