3. Our chosen actress and why we have chosen her
We have decided to cast Laura Wilson as our actress playing Milly.
Laura is 19, however she would be able to pass as a university graduate as she has
an older playing age than her actual age.
Laura has a large amount of acting training, such as being a member of Curve Young
Company and has appeared in a number of plays. She has also done some on screen
training as part of a multimedia production she was recently in
We have discussed the commitments with her and she plans to take time off work in
order to be a member of our cast.
4. Our choice of character
Milly is the lead character of our narrative, an introverted young woman.
By choosing a female lead, we can apply David Gauntlett’s empowered female
theory. This is the theory that women are in control of what they do and do
what they want for themselves, not for the male gaze.
Also, a female Protagonist conveys an ideology that women are strong in
themselves and can get by independently.
Additionally, during our opening sequence, we want the audience to feel some
sympathy for Milly, especially as she finds it difficult to feel content and
comfortable in social situations. However, we want the audience’s emotion to
change as the plot progresses, and them to feel empathy for the emotions that
the Milly is feeling.
5. Contract
In order to secure Laura as the actress in our production, we are
sending her a contract binding her to our production.
We will be sending her this alongside the shooting schedule so
she can book the dates off for filming.
We will also be sending her a model release form to accept
recordings and photographs being taken as part of our
production.
