2. This is the establishing shot of our production, it is of the sky this then
begins to tilt down, then peds down into the long shot of the house the

rural areas connoting that there is a sense of calm her and almost an
interrupted sort of lifestyle.
Within the mse-en-scene of this shot is the car that the protagonist is
een to be driving, as it seems to be a large car for one person
connoting that she is alone, also that she is from a middle class
background and may have been given the car from some of her elatives
in her family.
3. The boxes being moved from the car boot connotes that something
is being moved from one place to another, but the audience do not
know what exactly this is. Therefore giving the audience indication
as to what is happening or going on within the opening sequence
and why they were shown a house at the beginning of the shot.
4. In a close-up of Milly the audience can see the
look on her face, this connotes that something
very difficult for her is going to happen or that
it is something that she is not used to being
faced with.
As Milly then pulls the key from her pocket and
places it in to the door, it connotes to the
audience that this large house is where Milly is
living and that it is hers.
5. As Milly then begins to walk into the house through a medium long shot,
connoting that she feels alone and almost isolated and she is surrounded by
barely anything. Also connoting to the audience that this isnt a place that
she is familiar with at all and that this is a new experience for the
protagonist.
There is then a track around Milly as she is unpacking her things and placing
them within th room connoting to the audience that this is her new home
and she is filing up the empty space that is surrounding her.
6. The medium Long shot of Milly eating a microwave meal alone
connotes to the audience that she doesn’t have any family with her
as they can see that this is clearly a meal for one . As there is only
one place set out at the table and empty chairs that can be seen
within the mise-en-scene it connotes that she chooses to be alona
as she has the space to have people over but doesn’t.
The clos up of the phone connotes that she is connected but
chooses not to engage with them willingingly, it also connotes that
she does have some intention of communicating with other people.
7. The medium long shot that is shown of milly and the mise-
en-scene connotes that she is isolated as she is sat in the
middle of the sofa surrounded by noone, again connoting
her isolation from others.
The blanket and the cup of tea connote that she is trying
her best to make herself eel comfortable but as she is sat
up right it connotes that she is not able to do this. But also
connoting she is most at home when she is by herself in her
ow company.
8. The tilt upwards medium long shot of milly opening the blinds
connotes that it is the next morning, and that there is something
that Milly has seen which she had not seen before. As it is not in
the shot it connotes that it could be something important to the
plot line and should not be revealed straight away.
The track that then follows milly through the door way as she puts
her coat on connotes that the something she saw out the window
intrigued her and that she feels a strong urge to find out exactly
what it is.
9. The over the shoulder tilted down shot as milly revealed the art
supplies connotes that these will be come important to her as
they are the majority of the mise-en-scene
As the large object is covered by a piece of cloth it connotes
some sort of importance but the dust connotes that it had been
there for a long time. The yellow liight connotes to the audience
that this is something positive towards the protagonist, and it is
not going to cause any troule within the plot , also that it makes
her happier.
