Assignment 6:Other As Video Media Research
1. Assignment 6: Other AS Media
Videos Research.
Patrycia Butrym.
Esere Simei-Akajagbo.
Shivonne Weekes.
Courtney Buabeng.
2. Poor Example
Patrycia Butrym
• ‘Gone’ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8hU4X8bcgM
When the character enters the car a
camera behind is spotted. This should not
seen from the audience.
During this filming a tripod was not used
because it looks wonky almost canted.
In the first and second
picture both cameras
shake. In the second picture
the angle was completely
wrong and you could not
see the characters face
because the pace was to
fast.
This blurr effect was used to
long which is annoying
because you couldnt see what
exactly happened to the main
character.
3. Good Example

• ‘Wraith’ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ph_31ATENAo
The first thing i noticed was
the professional font which
gets the audiences attension
using the Adobe After Effect.
The different angle points were used perfectly
for a horror because it made it seem as if
someone was hiding and observing the main
character.
The scream noise
used in this part
helps the audience
figure out something
about the character
and that she isnt
quite normal and
something mental is
happening to her.
This is a appropriate angle to use because it
shows the characters full position and the
smaller font looks gothic that matches the plot.

A History Of Love
•
At the start there was a
tilt.
•
The Camera was shaky.
•
The non diegetic score music
jumped from scene to scene.
•
It was a sharp change and the
score music never changed
smoothly.
EBI- If they used a tripod
•
It's changed the mood in
atmosphere.
•
The enigmas wasn't clear: no
narrative.
•
Therefore the message wasn't
clear.
•
•
EBI- The message of the
opening sequence was clear.
5. Great Example

Vindictive Grounds
•
A close up shot and mysterious
music helped engage the
audience from the start.
•
Also kept the suspense.
•
There was little enigmas throughout
that made the message clear.
•
Continuity Editing- A variety if
transitions were used to show
time moving.
•
Also helped engage the
audience to not realise the
length of the opening
sequence.
6. Poor Example
Shivonne Weekes
• http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01btvvdtivM
• The title is ‘done’
-The enigma is not clear
- It doesn’t seem to link
-The picture is not clear
quite blurry
- Cant really hear what
they are saying
-The storyline is not
clear and they could
of picked a better
location.
7. Great Example
Shivonne Weekes
• http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIcSpKCeQ30
• The title is ‘Crossword’
The enigmas was
clear throughout
which engaged the
audience
The editing was
good because
everything
matched.
The camerawork was
proficient because it
link with the storyline
e.g. when he was
running the camera
was shaking
8. Poor Example.
Courtney Buabeng
•Font and non diegetic score
music is okay.
•Insightful plot.
•Zooming out- Looks
amateur.
•Basic range of angles. For
example: close up shot of
‘Google.’
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nt
7ooUCYe0I
‘The Obsessed.’
•Very minimal or no
use of transitions,
editing and props.
•The sound of wind in
the background. The
ending isn’t
particularly
interesting.
9. Courtney Buabeng
•Editing of ‘PULSE Productions’
looks professional and unique.
•Editing of shots and
transitions are
insightful.
•Great range of angles.
Example: Close up of the
flame of candles or girl when
praying. Also, establishing
shot of the altar.(Where she's
headed.)
Good Example.

DOLLY.
•Slow pace of her walking
builds tension and leads us to
the climax. Also with the slow
holy music.
•Noise when doll drops is
unexpected and random.
•Non diegetic score music
•More use of MISE-EN-SCENE
works effectively well
and probably captured a
with plot. (Sinister versed
wide shot of inside church.
with holy.)
•Pace/beat of music changes
and increases as the black
and white edit is an enigma
to her past. (Reveals pivotal
point of plot.)
