2. Ten Commandments of Computer Ethics
1. Thou shall not use a computer to harm other
people.
2. Thou shall not interfere with other people’s
computer work.
3. Thou shall not snoop around in other people’s
files.
4. Thou shall not use a computer to steal.
5. Thou shall not use a computer to bear false
witness

which you have not paid.
7. Thou shall not use other people’s computer resources
without authorization or proper compensation.
8. Thou shall not appropriate other people’s
intellectual output.
9. Thou shall not think about the social consequences
of the program you write and or the system you
design.
10.Thou shall use a computer use a computer in ways
that show consideration and respect for your fellow
humans.
4. Issues in Computer Ethics
Privacy – responsibility to protect data about
individuals
Accuracy – responsibility of data collectors to
authenticate information and ensure its accuracy
Property – who owns information and software and
how can they be sold and exchanged
5. Access – responsibility of data collectors to control
access and determine what information a person
has the right to obtain about others and how the
information can be used.
6. Microsoft Word
Is a word processor Microsoft which allows
users to create their own typing templates,
type, and save documents.
Similar to other word processors, it has
helpful tools to make documents.
7. What is Mail Merge?
It allows the user to create documents and combine
or merge them with another document or data file.
***Note: Mail Merge is commonly used when sending
out advertising materials to various recipients.***
9. Form Document
Is the document that contains the main body of the
message we want to convey or send.
The main body of the message is the part of the
form document that remains the same no matter
whom you send it to from among your list
10. List or Data File
Is where the individual information or data that
needs to be plugged in to the form document is
placed and maintained.
***Note: The mail merge feature allows data from a
file created from within the Microsoft Word and
Microsoft Excel application itself and fields that
needed to be filled up on the form document can
easily be maintained without accidentally altering
the form or main document.***
11. Label Generation
Label Generation will print individual addresses to a
standard form that it has already pre-formatted.
Simply put, it creates a blank form document that
stimulates either a blank label or envelope of pre-
defined size and will use the data file that you
selected to print the information, typically
individual addresses.

13. Integrating Images and External Materials
There are various kinds of materials that Microsoft
Office is capable of integrating to your files to make
them richer, more impressive and more informative.
14. Pictures
1. .JPG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) – is a type of
image file able to support 16.7 million colors but can
be difficult to integrate in terms of blending with
other elements of your document.
2. .GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) – Is a type of
image file capable of displaying transparencies
(simple animation/loops/vines).
3. .PNG (Portable Network Graphics) – is a type of image
file that allows the control of transparency level or
opacity level of images.
15. Clip Art
Are line art drawings or images located from
Microsoft Word that is mostly used as generic
representation for ideas and objects that you might
want to integrate in your document.
16. Shapes
Are printable objects or materials that you can
integrate in your document to enhance its
appearance or to allow you to have some tools to
use for composing and representing ideas or
messages.
17. Smart Art
Are predefined sets of different shapes grouped
together to form ideas that are organizational or
structural in nature.
18. Chart
Is a type of material that you can integrate that
allows you to represent data characteristics and
trends.
19. Screenshot
Is a realistic image of what you are discussing in
your manual.

your screenshot so that you can exactly like to
capture on your screen.***
