5. TEAM DSU BUR’RAQ comprises of young and motivated students from DHA Suffa University. The
team was formulated with the aim to represent Pakistan in the internationally acclaimed and most
prestigious automotive event, Formula SAE. The team consists of students from 3rd and 4th Year of
BE (Mechanical) program working under the able supervision of Engr. Hamza Shams, Alumnus of
Formula SAE competition (UK). The team’s motto is “Rooh-e-Rawan” in accordance with the
nature of Bur’raq (a free & fast creature).

• First University in Pakistan and 3rd in the Asia to have its own Rocket
Program
• First Hybrid rocket designed and developed by anyone in Pakistan.

• Thus, 2015-2016 became the year when DSU became the first
university in Pakistan to have won awards at all the major aircraft
design, build and fly competitions within a year:
• AirEx was held in December 2015
• AIAA Design, Build and Fly Contest in 2016 at GIKI
• Propellair 2016 at NEDUET.
• One of the 3 teams from Pakistan to participate in AIAA's Design,
Build and Fly Contest 2016 at Wichita, USA.
• Won 1st and 2nd position at Science Fair by SUPARCO 2017.
