3. Process
In order to create a canvas in Photoshop that
would work with pixel art, the width and height
need to be changed to 120 and 80, as well as
pixels
In order to start the animation process on Photoshop
go to window then timeline, from here the
timeline appears; click on create timeline then the
three squares in the bottom left in order to switch it
to frame animation.
4. Process
• In order to create a background – seen in
shark experiment- create a new Photoshop
file and up the width by about 9 or 10 times.
• From there export it and add it to a existing
document with the same dimensions as on
the previous slide
• After creating the amount of frames needed
place the far end on the first frame and on
the last frame place the closest end of the
background
• Then using the tween tool select how many
frames you want between the two separate
frames this will automatically fill in the
movements for the background
5. Process
• When creating a walk cycle the amount of
different models you need depends on the
style you want to use. For the production
experiment I only used two separate
models to create a walk cycle( seen in RPG
walk cycle test). This was done by creating
one sprite , copying it and then moving the
legs, sword & shield to give the illusion of
movement
• The final production experiment we did
was creating a soundtrack , one to cover
a test animation and just one soundtrack
in general.
• These soundtracks were created on
beepbox.co. Within beepbox notes can be
added on separate lines raising and
lowering the pitch, creating a melody.
• The instruments can be changed as well
as customised underneath the track
• Once finished the audio can be exported
and placed over the animation inside of
6. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
• I plan to use the scrolling background in certain segments of
the product.
• The low sprite count for models will also be used in the style
but more than 2 for walking animations
• Creating music in Beepbox will also be used in the final
product creating a soundtrack for the ‘game’.
