3. KONSEP EGO STATE
 Suatu kumpulan dari cara cara seseorang
mengekspresikan dirinya dalam berinteraksi dengan
orang lain
 Dilakukan secara terus menerus  pola kecenderungan
dalam berkomunikasi dan berinteraksi dengan orang lain
 Dipengaruhi oleh lingkungan
 Bila disadari oleh orang tersebut, maka sebenarnya
konsep EGO STATE ini dapat dianalisa, sehingga
seseorang dapat memperbaiki pola berinteraksi dengan
orang lain

7. Parent ego state - 1
O = Parent = Rule, dogma
 Parent ego state are made up of behaviors copied from their parents
 When you feel, think, or act as you saw your parents (or other authority figures) act
when you were little, you are in parent ego state.
 Act either controlling, sometimes critical way or in a nurturing, sometimes loving way
 Example statement :
 Controlling : “Nobody can leave until this report is finish”
 Nurturing : “ I’m sorry you’re not feeling well today. Would you like to go over to the nurse’s
office and get some help? I’ll take care of your station”

8. Parent ego state - 2
 Controlling Parent
 Criticize, make rules, give commands, or punish
 Main objective of these behaviors is to control  controlling behavior
 Nurturing Parent
 Treat in a loving way, speak kindly to them, offer shelter and protection, or take care of
them in other ways
 Nourishing, and helps child grow

9. Adult ego state
Adult = Rational
 The respond is analytically .
 Gathering information, reasoning things out, estimating probabilities
 Adult are : objective observer, fact seeker, thinker, problem solver, estimator, decision
maker
 Making decision unemotionally. Want the facts

10. Child ego state – 1
Child = Feeling
 Natural Child
 Spontaneous, energetic, feeling, curious, loving, uninhibited, self centered, impatient, and
greedy
 Feels free and loves pleasure
 It comes naturally
 Transact freely and openly with others
 If you’ve ever had a warm or excited feeling when you were with someone

11. Child ego state – 2
 Learned to change (adapt) feelings and behavior in response to the world around
 Learned feelings guilt, fear, anxiety, depression, and envy, un confidence, need recognition from
others
 Adapted child
 Try to please everyone in its department
 Turn its back on people with problems
 Procrastinate by putting off work until the deadline passes
 Adapted child can become troublesome part of personality :
 Frightened when we must speak before a group
 Depressed when someone criticizes our work
 Hurt when things don’t go our way at a meeting
 Anxious when important deadlines confront us
ADAPTED CHILD

12. Child ego state – 3
 Rebellious Child (Little Professor)
 Is the thinking part of the child-thinking without knowing all of the facts believed to
be needed
 Thinking can be free of rigid boundaries
 Creative, intuitive, and manipulative
 Characteristics
 Dream up, new ideas
 ‘Pull just the right strings’ to reach desired goals
 Intuitively sense what to do
 Little Professor is able to :
 Come up with unusual approach
 Put familiar things together in new ways
 Imagine new ideas, products, solutions

 Bisa terjadi transaksi silang - terjadi ketidak cocokan , tersembunyi , akan
tetapi dapat mengganggu suasana hubungan kerja ( berbeda ego state
dalam berkomunikasi)
 Kalau sudah “cross”, upayakan agar bisa paralel dan antara dewasa –
dewasa
 Bila masih gagal  upayakan dengan transaksi ulterior (transaksi
terselubung), spy pihak lain tidak sakit hati, tapi “face saving”

Lesson learn
 Ego state berpengaruh pada pola hubungan kita dengan orang lain
 Perlu kepekaan akan “ego state” orang lain yang sedang berkomunikasi
dengan kita
 Jika ingin memelihara hubungan , ciptakan transaksi paralel.
 Biasakan menggunakan ke 3 status ego (ego state) secara seimbang ( O
D A ), sehingga kita dpt lebih fleksibel dengan individu yang mungkin
berbeda kecenderungan dominan status ego
 Penggunana Status Ego yang tepat akan membantu meningkatkan
kompatibilitas kita dengan orang lain
