MBB Certification Criteria & Accomplishments at time of certification (11/2008)
Criteria Minimum
Requirements
Accomplishments
1. Demonstration of leadership in business:
• Project scoping/selection
• Project goal setting
• Elimination of road blocks
• Monitor ongoing project progress.
• Interaction with businesses
Provision of 2 examples with
confirmation by local business
leadership.
* Formulated and implemented a green belt training
program whereas whenever projects are identified,
candidate begins Computer Based Training, then
begins project and takes next available classroom
training to reduce project & certification cycle time
* Formulated and implemented working document to
track continuous improvement projects and mega-
projects and to display cycle time, WIP & exit rates
* Identified opportunities within a joint venture,
formulated projects with management, implemented
projects with Operations, Technical, Engineering and
back office personnel
2. Mastery of Six Sigma Methodology
a. Successful mentoring and coaching of Black
Belts/Green Belts in project application of Six Sigma
methodology and tools
OR
b. Black Belt certification by ASQ, IQF, or other
nationally recognized certifying body; and
demonstration of mentoring skills
NOTE: All mentored projects (for Option A or B) must
have a completed mentor feedback form.
Minimum of 10 completed DMAIC
BB/GB projects recorded in
SigmaNet. Non-DMAIC projects
(Lean, RBI, etc.) may be
substituted for up to 4 of these
projects, at a ratio of 2 non-DMAIC
projects for each DMAIC project.
OR
Independent Black Belt
certification and evidence of
mentoring 10 projects, all or some
of which may be non-DMAIC
(Lean, RBI, etc.)
9 DMAIC BB/GB projects mentoring completed +
5 non-DMAIC projects mentoring completed =
11.5 equivalent projects
Plus an additional 15 DMAIC BB/GB mentored
projects & 8 non-DMAIC BB/GB mentored projects
active
3. Building and maintaining continuous improvement
infrastructure for Business:
• Develop and/or support systems, process, and
administration for continuous improvement
within the local business
• Participate in the MBB Network (Process
Excellence BPN)
• Contribute to a Best Practice Network (BPN) or
similar network
Provision of 2 examples with
confirmation by local business
leadership.
Participated in the following networks:
- Business, Transactional, & Services
- Breakthrough
- Process Excellence (MBB)
Developed internal LEAN training manual & class with
2 other MBB’s & PC
4. Successfully manages complex projects or Six

• Business critical (broader issues)
One complex project or
deployment effort.
