Barry Dallum worked with me and for me on 2 separate occasions. The first time was in early -mid
2000's at ConocoPhillips Penreco joint venture, the second time in 2015 at Calumet Specialty Products
Partners. .
At Penreco, Barry was instrumental in helping deploy a Lean Six Sigma strategy focused on
Operations, Sales Services and R&D. He worked with group leaders on Six Sigma projects, Lean -
Kaizen Events andimplemented Design for Six Sigma - DMADV. In particular, he helped optimize
inventories at several sites, balancing risk of stock-outs with cost of stock-outs with set-up costs and
inventory carrying costs. This led to additional cost reductions through the identification and
elimination of waste - need for inventory - root causes. Theresult was significant; multi-million
dollar savings. This helped with the turn-around of Penreco into a profitable enterprise.
Because of the Penreco experience, I hired Barry to execute inventory optimizations at Calumet.
Although I left Calumet prior to complete implementation I understand that he found root causes for
short ships from product sites and identified tens of millions dollars in working capital savings in
refineries and terminals.
Barry is very capable in the formulation and deployment of continuous improvement, process
excellence, project management, coaching and mentoring, along with general business management.
Given the opportunity and need, I would hire Barry in the future to again improve the performance of a
business.
