Homework expectations
 Homework is given out on a Friday and
to be returned on Tuesday morning.
Your child will have a piece of literacy
and numeracy work to complete. Also,
we give out spellings on a Friday for your
child to learn and this will be tested the
following Friday. Once they have learnt
the spellings we would like your child to
write a sentence in their homework book,
containing each word and using
connectives to make them interesting.

Finding evidence to support. To know how David was chosen by God to be King. Agility/Game s This is what we do - Children think about what they do when they leave school at the end of the day. They create pictures and write captions to represent their lives today and start a timeline to represent a typical day. Start to find out about the artist Vincent Van Gogh Find out about the life and times of Van Gogh; generate questions you would like to have asked him. To know how David was victorious over Goliath. Agility/Games PEEPO! - Children read ‘Peepo!’ by Janet and Allan Ahlberg and compare and contrast similarities and differences between then and now. Paint a picture inspired by Van Gogh's The Starry Night Find out more about the life of Van Gogh; study his painting The Starry Night and make your own starry night picture using oil pastels and paint. 06/10/15 Harvest Claude in the City – Power of Reading Addition and subtraction Measuring experiment using different materials e.g.: how many coins fill a glass jar before it overflows. To know that David was close to God and draw a personal lesson from his life. Agility/Games Introduction to transport - Children name and describe different types of transport and begin to understand transport was different when their parents, grandparents and great- grandparents were little. Finding out about the artist L.S. Lowry Find out about the artist L.S. Lowry and his paintings of industrial landscapes; draw your own pictures of rural and industrial landscapes and buildings.
  • 6. 13/10/15 Compassion Claude in the City – Power of Reading Measurement (length and height) Plan an investigation with a fair test. To consider why it is important to remember people from the past such as Guru Nanak. Agility/Games Wheel printing Children use toy vehicles to identify the features of ‘modern’ and ‘old fashioned’ cars. They then create artwork using printing with toy vehicles. Children recognise the name Jackson Pollock as a famous artist. Compare Lowry's times with our own and paint figures in his style Study the stories told in Lowry’s paintings and paint figures in the style of Lowry. 20/10/15 Compassion Language and Literacy Multiplication and division including Number and place value Carry out investigation and record results. To know that Sikhs believe that God told Guru Nanak to teach people how to behave. Agility/Games History of cars Children explore the story of the automobile, looking at how the internal combustion engine was invented and how the car developed over time. Children produce a timeline of cars over 100 years. Discuss the contributions of Lowry and Van Gough Consider the contrast in the environment and times of Van Gogh and Lowry; produce artwork inspired by Lowry; finally reflect on the work of these two artists and decide which paintings you like best and why.
  • 7. SAT’s  Will be in July 2016  Different to previous years  The children will be given plenty of practise prior to this  We will hold another parents meeting nearer the time
  • 8. Homework expectations  Homework is given out on a Friday and to be returned on Tuesday morning. Your child will have a piece of literacy and numeracy work to complete. Also, we give out spellings on a Friday for your child to learn and this will be tested the following Friday. Once they have learnt the spellings we would like your child to write a sentence in their homework book, containing each word and using connectives to make them interesting.
