2. INTRODUCTION
• The quality education is the major issue in India. The
word quality derived from Latin word ‘Qalis’ which
means ‘ of what kind’. According to Wikipedia
“A property or an attribute that differentiates a thing
or person”. The secondary and higher secondary
education is the backbone of education system of any
nation. This is making a bridge between the primary
and higher education system. By maintaining the
quality of secondary and higher secondary education,
we can promote the learner in higher education and
minimize the dropout rate. It will help us to achieve
the goal of Gross Enrollment Rate 50% in higher
education in India by 2030.
3. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NAAC,UGC AND
NCTE
• NAAC- NAAC is an acronym for the National
Assessment and Accreditation Council. The
NATIONAL ASSESSMENT AND ACCREDITATION
COUNCIL (NAAC) conducts assessment
and accreditation of Higher Educational
Institutions (HEI)
4. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NAAC,UGC AND
NCTE
• UGC is the University Grants Commission.UGC
is responsible for approving Universities or
Colleges whereas NAAC accredits the
programs offered in the University or
institute.
• NAAC is an autonomous body that is funded
by the University Grants Commission (UGC)

• The National Council for Teacher Education as
a statutory body came into existence in
pursuance of the National Council for Teacher
Education Act, 1993., on the 17th
August,1995.

10. Objectives of Study
• To Explain the concept of assessment and
Accreditation process of NAAC.
• To assist the TEIs in securing appropriate Grade
in the process of Assessment and Accreditation.
• To realize the academic objectives of Teacher
Educations Institutions in India.
• To encourage TEIs in continuous improvement
and focus on institutional functioning towards
quality enhancement.
11. NAAC Revised Assessment and
Accreditation (A&A) Framework
• Preschool/ Montessori teacher education which
is usually in the form of certificate/diploma
programmes,
• Early Childhood Care & Education - ECCE,
• Elementary teacher preparation usually in the
form of D.El.Ed. Or 2-year diploma programme,
4 year B.El.Ed.
• Secondary teacher preparation which is B.Ed.
after graduation or ITEP after +2.
