20. Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD)
• Social anxiety disorder, also called social
phobia, is a type of anxiety disorder that
causes extreme fear in social settings.
21. How you can recognize
• They hesitate to talk and are passive and uncomfortable
when in public.
• They avoid or refuse to start conversations, or perform in
front of others, etc.
• They speak very softly and mostly avoid eye contact.
• Even with peers they will have limited interaction and
conversation
• They like to sit alone and prefer to sit at the back in the
class, or in the meetings.
• They will have difficulty with public speaking, reading
aloud, or being called on in class. Because of this, they are
overly concerned with humiliation or embarrassment.
