2. JamieT – Sticks ‘n’ Stones
■ We had chosen JamieT – Sticks ‘n’ Stones because it is a song
suited within the Indie genre and a song which all 3 of us like.
With the idea we had in mind to make the music video, the
songs pace and beat works well with what we want to achieve.
■ In addition, we had chosen this song because we all had a fair
understanding of the lyrics and we were looking for a song
which is loud, fun and British which the band could sing the
song whilst having fun.
3. The song genre
■ The genre which we had chosen was Indie because all 3 of us
had a reasonable amount of knowledge on the genre but
wanted to extend our understanding to help us with how to
make a better music video.
■ The Indie genre is known to be fun and playful which is why in
some of our footage, we have used shots of our band members
having fun within a reckless manor.
4. Bathtub Shouting (Our band
name)
■ We are Bathtub Shouting because the band name is creative
and out of the box which suits the genre. Other band names
which have used the same idea is King Gizard and the Lizard
Wizard andAriel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti. The band names listed
to don’t have any knowledge behind them which is what we
have tried to recreate in our band name.
■ Another reason for us creating the band name, Bathtub
Shouting, is because it links in with the recklessness of our
band members and how they don’t take life seriously.
5. Videos we were inspired by
■ We watched numerous videos onYouTube of other bands
music videos and were inspired by Ratboy – Sign On where the
band use the green screen in order to create visual effects as
well as the car shots with the band in the car.
■ Another song we looked at and took inspiration from is JamieT
– Sticks ‘n’ Stones where they used the train line in their shots
which we aesthetically enjoyed.
■ Our last song which we watched for inspiration was King Krule
– Easy Easy. What we took from this video was the roof shots
and the costumes used within the video. We may consider
using the video for ideas for our music video as we thought it
looked good and would fit in with the song we have chosen.
6. Our video - performance
■ We have chosen to do a performance video with 3 band
members. One member will be the verse singer and another
will be the chorus singer so we have two members performing
in the forefront of the video and the last member will be the
drummer.
■ During our research, we found that most indie genre videos
have people included in the video that aren't actually in the
band.We chose to have a few people in the background of our
shots to match the indie aesthetic.
7. Locations
■ So far, we have shot in 5 different locations with a range of establishing shots, pan shots,
performance videos and a few others.
■ Our first location was filmed in the summer to get the sun shining on the performers. This
creates a happy feeling that we want to convey. We found an abandoned airstrip that we
could drive along in our car and perform the song whilst in and out of the car.
■ Second location was on the roof of a car park, performing.
■ Third location was on the roof of another car park and we gained some pan shots.
■ Our fourth location was around some abandoned buildings that featured graffiti.
■ The last location was in a worn down, abandoned car park. Here, we performed the song
multiple times and got a variety of different shots to see how they worked.
■ We still need to film many more shots, however, and are thinking about performing videos
similar to Rat Boy and JamieT to fit into our genre.
