2. - Clients in mental hospitals
and clinics are weird
- They talk noisily, excitedly
and wildly
- They declaim irrationally –
delirium
- Posing as Jose Rizal and
other characters

3. * In fact, most hospitalized
clients are quite aware of what
is going on around them
* Only a small percentage
exhibit behaviors that might
be labelled as bizarre

4. - Most people are moderately
well adjusted, with minor
maladaptive patterns
- Few lead unusually
satisfying and effective lives

5. * A sharp dividing line
between normal and abnormal
behavior does not exist

6. - Mental disorders are
INCURABLE
- Persons who have been
discharged from mental
institutions are often viewed
with suspicion
- Mental clients are
discriminated in employments
or job advancement

7. *While it is true that persons with
certain forms of mental
disorders- such as severe senile
brain damage- will never recover
completely, most mental clients
respond well to treatment and
later meet their responsibilities
satisfactorily.
* Many achieve a higher level of
personality adjustment than
before their breakdown

8. - A dentist, a lawyer and any
other professionals are easy
to visit- but not a psychologist
or psychiatrist

9. * Mental disorder should be
considered no more
disgraceful than a physical
disorder- both are adaptive
failures

10. - In some societies, people
who showed strange behavior
were thought to be possessed
by supernatural powers and
were regarded with awe

11. * This view lessened with the
use of scientific views but has
never been completely
abandoned in popular
thoughts
