3. Noun - a name
given to a person,
a place, a thing, an
animal or an idea.
Types of Noun
Common Noun:- A name which is given to similar
looking or similar working group of person or a
thing or a place or an animal.
Ex. Girl, Boy, table, country.
Proper Noun:- It is a particular name given to a
person, place, thing, animal.
Ex. Meena, Andhra Pradesh, Usha Fan
Abstract Noun:-It is the noun which talk about the
qualities, emotions, states.
Ex. Goodness, kindness, laughter, childhood,
death, poverty, happiness, Sadness.
Collective Noun:-It is a noun which talks about the
number of persons, things and groups.
Ex. Army, Family, Cattle, Nation, Team, Crowd.
4. Countable Nouns :- Countable Nouns
are those nouns which we can count.
Ex. Pen, Book, Brother, Girl,
• Uncountable Nouns :- Uncountable Nouns
are those which we can not count ( needs
different measures)
Ex. Milk, Oil, Sugar, Gold, Honesty.
5. PRONOUN
A word which is used to replace noun to avoid repetition of noun.
Types of Pronouns
1)I- When speaking about self
2)You- when speaking with someone
3)He- When Speaking about a single male person
4)She- When Speaking about a single female person
5)We- when I + You + He + She comes together it becomes “WE”
“ WE” cannot be formed without “ I “
6)They- When we are speaking about a group in which we are not
present.
7)It- For
Non- living things
When we do not know the gender(male/female)
For food items, vegetables, fruits, trees etc.
6. Adjective: Shows the quality of the Noun.
Ex. Good, Bad, Black, White, Brave, Clever, Ugly, Beautiful.
Boyish, Foolish, Playful, Hopeful, Trouble –some,
Shameless, Silken, Careful, Stormy, Glorious, Envious,
Pardonable, Ceaseless
Three Degrees of Adjective
Positive – To tell about the quality of single noun(one
person or things)- Anisha is a good student.
Comparative- To compare the qualities of two people,
groups – Anisha is better student than her friend
Superlative- Comparison of several things – Anisha is
the best student in the class

7. Verb
Verb has two works
1) To tell about an action ( I am writing a letter)
2) To tell about the time ( I am a student)
Without a verb we can not complete the sentence.
Eg- Action- read, listen, run, write, watch
Time- Am, Is, Are, Was, Were etc.

9. Prepositions
It is used to tell the relation between two nouns in the sentence.
It shows direction, time, place, location
Eg-In, on, with, without, off, of, below, at etc.
Laptop is on the table
Girl is standing at the bus stop
10. Conjunction
It joints two sentences or words
Eg-And, Although, so, if, either, or,
but etc.
