2. research and planning
• I began by building up a library of similar products, researching similar genre
of music websites and then comparing that with a completely different type of
genre of music.
• I researched into “why and how bands use website” so we could utilise our
website the best for our band as promotional tool, attracting the target
audience but as well make it appear attractive to a secondary audience.
3. • I mainly utilised the internet in research and planning our website. Enabling
me to not only give a foundation to which the standard of website style was
but the similar characteristics of an indie rock band website.
• Enabling me to try to design and make something that connects with the
target audience but also a secondary audiences that could wonder across
the website, grabbing their attention straight away. Also making something
that fit with our bands star image.
• on top of that the website from my research appeared to by the core
manifestation of all the cross promotional elements we had in our music video
and website, therefore creating a brand and creating something that fits all
together as if a family of products.
4. • again for planning this piece one of the most important technologies was
email communication, in directing and constructing an image of what we
wanted to the band members, for example in what they should wear and
where we should meet for the shoot.
• email was also important for getting the equipment prepared for the shoot,
we used CoCo again, who was specialised in lighting and photography, who
we where able to direct to get the best images possible that fitted our bands
star image.
5. the production stage
• our main technology used where the camera 5D MK 3 and red head lights,
which we used to construct an image of the band members that fitted our
star image but as well that would enable us to alter the images afterwards.
• we began by taking wides of the band members all together then closeups of
the individuals allowing use to give us flexibility in the post stages.
6. post production
• in the post production stages I used many technologies in accomplishing the
task of completing the website, I mainly used WIX and Photoshop.
• WIX - is a web designing website that works like drag and drop, priding itself
in ease of use.
• PHOTOSHOP - is generally known for its image manipulation tools.
7. • I used photoshop to create the assets necessary for the website. From the
images we took of the band to the GIF for the landing page.
• I used a GIF (a moving image) on the landing page to intrigue the target
audiences but as well to stimulate a secondary audiences, making the band
appear exciting and original adhering to the star image.
• the images we had of the band I continued that red/pinky undertone which I
have continued through ought the promotional packages. This adheres to the
star image of them appearing creative and artsy but allows us to open to a
secondary audience of females as the red/pinky is what usually is associated
as feminine or sexual. Therefore sexualising the image of the band to access
a larger audience.
8. • wix was the most important element of putting the website together.
• through ought the design I used the technology to enable me to display the band
members and the whole image in the necessary formate that would make them
appear as their star image to the target and secondary audience.
• The most important element was to selling the albums and to get the audience
wanting to buy into their image, therefore social media links so audiences can
consume more of their image.
• I made the website simple and clear for any audience member visiting the site
therefore the easier it would be for audiences to fall into the trap of wanting to
know more about their image. Therefore I put the main stimulator first, the GIF,
which sells the cross promotional design elements of the colour and of the album
cover and name. Therefore any audiences coming across the website will know
straight away what they are looking at, but with an original and creative touch
strengthening their image.
