 Established a privately owned consulting firm offering technical services to business
and industry in regard to environmental and safety compliance.
 Consulting in the design and installation of wastewater treatment systems, air
emission control devices, hazardous waste audits and management programs,
industrial hygiene monitoring and control systems and environmental site

 Client base, which includes major firms in Connecticut and Western Massachusetts,
has grown to the point where staff professionals or outside subcontractors are used to
fulfill contract needs in regard to sampling, monitoring and training.
 Design and monitor the performance of ventilation systems installed to protect
workers from process emissions or to maintain general indoor air quality.
 Assist clients and legal counsel in preparing defenses against enforcement actions and
loss claims involving worker safety and pollution control issues.
 Function as Health & Safety Manager on construction projects, preparing site-specific
HASP, training personnel and directing Health & Safety Officer in regard to HASP
implementation and overall control.

 Investigated the needs of the corporation regarding industrial hygiene, safety and
workmen’s compensation for off-shore operations covering 75,000 employees.
Traveled extensively to analyze manufacturing operations in Latin America, Europe
and Asia.

 Designed an approach, including an extensive mainframe/PC compatible data base, to
address the problem on a global scale. Created a new corporate safety and health
policy and sold the plan to the Corporate Operating and Policy Committee.’

for tracking the performance of overseas operations.
Manager, Industrial Hygiene Services 1977-1984

 Created a laboratory and field service organization to support the industrial hygiene
and environmental activities of the corporation. Managed a staff of 13 professional
and support personnel with an annual operating budget of $3/4 million.
 Completed construction, staffing and start-up of operations in nine months within
budget. Anticipated federal regulation spending on environmental concerns and
developed new procedures to respond (e.g. PCB’s, hazardous waste spills).
 Directed a quality control program which led to professional society laboratory
accreditation as well as state and federal licensing in just one year.
 Developed a Quality Control Manual to ensure the integrity of sample handling in the
field and laboratory, control charts to measure the precision and bias of analytical
procedures and software-based data checks to control input/output error in the
laboratory data systems.
 Saved the corporation $1/2 million annually as a result of a cooperative effort with the
Corporate Director of Energy Conservation by leading a Facilities Engineering
program to minimize excess exhaust ventilation in four major manufacturing plants.
 Established communication and training programs to interface with divisional
technical staff.

 Established the first industrial program for a division of 6,000 employees including
creation of a small laboratory for sample analysis.

RADIATION EXPERIENCE
 Responsible for record keeping and license renewal for a number of small sources
kept at the Windsor Locks site along with X-ray generating equipment.
 Routinely monitored electron beam welding machines for X-radiation to direct the
installation of lead shielding in order to maintain exempt classification.
