3. The literal meaning of the word Rasa Prakasha- Sudhakara
means Splendor of the Rasas or well spring of Nectar.
This text was written in 13th century A.D. by Acharya
Yashodhara Bhatta son of Shri Padmanabha Bhatta who
belonged to Gouda Brahmana Kula and resident of Junagad, a
place in Saurashtra, Gujarat.
4. Acharya does not mention the name of his Guru in this book .
But he quotes the name of Soma deva in various contexts.
From this reference we can consider that the author may be a
disciple of Soma deva.
This book was published by two Eminent personalities at
two different places.
5. First publication was done by Acharya Yadavji trikamji in
1910.
Re editing of this version was done by Nirnay Sager press
Mumbai in 1923.
Second publication was done by Acharya Jeevram Kalidas
Vyas in 1912.
Third publication was done in 1940.
6. This book consists of 13 chapters.
As this text is written in 13th century it is considered as more
scientific and well arranged than other books.
Rasa Prakasha sudha kara is a book which gives importance to
Loha vada and Chikitsa vada .
According to Sidhinandan Misra this book can be considered
as a complete book of Rasa sastra.

Description about 4 types of Rasa Bhasma , based on colour –
Sweta, Krishna, Peetha, Lohita
Sweta Rasa bhasma ( Rasa Karpoora ) is said to be
vatapittakapha kshayahara, Akhilakustahara, Yuvatikama vilasa
vidhayaka
Lohita Rasa Bhasma ( Rasa Sindhoora or Udhayabhaskara rasa )
is said to be Lalitakama vilasavidhayaka, destruction of all
Papajanya rogas.

Talastha Rasa bhasma is said to be Vrisya & Valipalita

Rasa Manikya – Manikya Varna bhasma of Parada has
properties like Deepana, Pachana, Kustahara, Balya,

• Method of preparation :-
• Sudha Gandhaka and Ghrita should be mixed together well
by grinding in a khalwa yantra.
20. It is then placed in a Loha darvi and melted over mild
fire.
Melted Gandhaka is added to the mixture of Parada &
Tamra bhasma and ground well.
This molted mixture is then poured to a Kadali patra
kept over the cow dung
Pressed with pottali of cow dung which is covered with
Kadali patra

This chapter consists of 64 Divya oushadhis , whose
most of the names are astonishing and no authors have
revised it.
These drugs are used for Parada bandha
Most of the drugs are not in use.
some eg are – somavalli, soma vriksha, somakala etc.
45. 64 Rasa oushadhis which are used for marana , jarana,
niyamana of Parada.
some eg are – jalautpala, chinchaka, jalapamarga etc.
Most of the drugs are not useful and controversial.

Rasa prakasha sudhakara is a book which is written in 13th
century A.D. by Acharya Yasodara Batta.
This book throws light on each and every minute details of the
principles of Rasa sastra.
Book gives detailed description about 18 samsakaras of Parada.
Though this book is written in the same era of Saragadhara , it
does not includes in Laghutrayis.
51. The reason may be of its non availability.
According to Sidhi nandan misra this book can be
considered as a complete book in Rasa sastra.
