4. Afrikaner nationalism also known as “Volkseenheid” is a political
ideology that was born in the late 19th century before the 2nd Anglo-
Boer war.
The nationalist movement was influenced by the British request to
expand into the interior of Southern Africa, thus arousing a strong
nationalist feeling in the Borer States.
The term “Afrikaner” was used to describe white people that only
spoke the Afrikaans language, which separated them from English
speakers and Africans.
In the 20th century, the National Party created a form of exclusive
ethnic nationalism to protect the Afrikaner 'people' or Volk.

5. Afrikaners has strong anti-British
sentiments because of the effects of the
second Anglo-Boer War.
The idea of nationalism amongst white
Afrikaner people was influenced by
what they had witnessed the pain and
suffering of their women and children
in the British concentration camps
This ultimately gave rise to a narrow
Afrikaner nationalism (An Afrikaner
group of people that wanted nothing to
do with other groups)
And a moderate nationalism (open to
collaborate with others)
