Unlocking the Potential of the Cloud for IBM Power Systems
Question 4
1. Question 4
Who would be the audience for your media product?
Gender
My genre being indie rock aims appeals more to the male audience, the reason for this is
because the majority of the bands that play this type of music are all male bands, and there
are only a few bands which have 1 or 2 females in an indie rock band. There is no real target
for my audience as both men and women do like the music, but it will be fit for both
genders so it appeals to both targets.
The colour scheme I chose was red, yellow white and black, these colours appeal to both
genders very well and I isn’t specific to one or the other, also the style of text I have for the
font is not specific to one gender or the other, this means that both genders would be
attracted to it, and hopefully read it.
For my content I have decided to place different types of things both genders would be
interested in, new types of music and unknown bands, a couple of interviews. With the use
of all of the different topics it attracts both genders and doesn’t really specify which gender
it is aimed towards. The majority of artist I have listed on the left side are all male bands,
there are three bands which have female band members in them, but without knowing who
they are they wouldn’t know about the female band members in the magazine, with this it
should appeal to both genders but people may have never heard of them and who they are.
Age
The age I am aiming my magazine at is between 16-20+. The reason for this specific age
range is because of indie rock music and metal is becoming more popular with this age
range, and also people want to know about the unknown bands before anyone else hears of
them. The people who listen to indie, rock, and metal are different people, some of them
can drifters and some of them can be drop outs.
The age range I have aimed my product at is not very young nor very old, it is a young
generation I have aimed it at. Most of the people who would read my magazine find out
different information online through social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter, I also
thought about creating a website where people could read the magazine online instead of
having a hard copy of the magazine. Also at that age range for my target market probably
get some form of income as they get paid by their parents or from a small job they have.
But it will not be so expensive that they can’t afford my magazine.
How I aimed my magazine at that age group is by using simple plain colours such as red,
yellow, white and black, the reason for these colours is because with these colours it isn’t
2. too bright, but it is fit for the different age ranges. My magazine does not have bright
colours as people would think it’s for a different target market. I also made the images fit for
the age target by adding basic shadow drops onto my images and not putting bright
colourful borders round them, to make it stand out but also fit for the target audience.
Social class
The class that people will be in who read my magazine are possibly from working or middle
class backgrounds, it doesn’t really matter what class people are from to like a specific
genre of music, it just depends if they enjoy the music or not. Also there is no real
intelligence level needed for my magazine, but for people who read my magazine will
probably be average as they may come from any working class background, they might be
rebellious in a sense.
Also the clothing is vital in social class as the dress sense will be followed by people who are
in bands etc. the clothing will be stuff such as skinny jeans, beanies, coats, some other hats
etc. I also made one of my models wear a beanie with his hair pushed back to make him fit
to the genre of music.
People who will be buying my magazine will possibly come from a city of somewhere but
people in the country side will not be buying my music as it might not be as popular out of
the city.
