2. DISTANCE EDUCATION
Distance Learning + Distance teaching
= DISTANCE EDUCATION
What is Distance Learning?
• The The classes can be done at home
• instructions are delivered online which is design to be accessible no
matter where you are
• There is no in-person interaction and relies heavily on digital learning
applications
• It is used to describe education delivered to distant or remote
locations “via print, audio, video, (live or pre-recorded) and/or
computer technologies, including both synchronous and
asynchronous instruction”
3. DISTANCE EDUCATION
APPLICATION
What are the needed materials for distance
education?
–Technology:
- Laptops, computers, etc.
- Webcams
- Good Internet connection
- Access to video conferencing applications
–Workspace
- Comfortable and cool environment
- Quite place to avoid distractions
- Much better if we sit with a solid wall behind.
4. DISTANCE EDUCATION
APPLICATION
During video conferencing:
- The parents MUST be beside of their children.
- As a teacher, we must be acknowledging the presence of
the parent as our temporary ASSISSTANTS.
- Use enthusiasm while teaching the children online
because it can help for their adaptation.
- We must always provide lists to accomplish per session.
- DO NOT FORGET TO HAVE A BREAK. The child is in a
process of adapting so we should be giving them breaks to
ease stress and pressure that may build up during the
sessions.
5. REMOTE LEARNING
WHAT IS REMOTE LEARNING?
It is where the student and the educator,
or information source, are not physically
present in a traditional classroom
environment.
Information is relayed through
technology, such as discussion boards,
video conferencing, and online
assessments.
6. REMOTE LEARNING
WHAT IS REMOTE LEARNING?
Like in distance education, we need to have
computers, webcams, audios, access to internet
and video conferencing apps.
Also, because it is online learning, the
workspace is also important to consider.
The tips in distance learning should also be
applied.
7. HYBRID LEARNING
Also referred as Blended learning
A hybrid approach to course delivery
combines face-to-face classroom instruction
with online activities.
This approach reduces the amount of seat
time in a traditional face-to-face course and
moves more of the course delivery online.
8. HYBRID LEARNING
TYPES OF HYBRID LEARNING
Offline
•The time where the learners go to the
school
Online
•The time where the learners are
engaged in online classes at their
homes.
9. HYBRID LEARNING
APPLICATION
If we use hybrid learning, we have to set the date or
days when the students will be going to school and
when will they stay at home.
• The students can go to school twice or thrice a
week for face-to-face learning.
- Example: the students will go to school every
Tuesdays and Thursdays and very Monday,
Wednesday and Friday, they will do online
learning or we will give worksheets and
assignments for them to do at home.
10. HYBRID LEARNING
APPLICATION
If we push this set-up, we should
collaborate with the help of the parents to
monitor them when they’re at home.
Also, we should prepare worksheets for
the child to do at home.
11. LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
It is a system is a software application for the
administration, documentation, tracking,
reporting, automation and delivery of
educational courses, training programs, or
learning and development programs.
12. LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
APPLICATION
Learning Management System will be beneficial for our
school in this time of pandemic. If we push this LMS, we
should:
–Create e-learning course
- If we create e-learning system/course, we should write
or import content
- We could also gather learning materials here and share
it to the learners
13. LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
APPLICATION
– Organize the course
- Organizing the learning materials based on
the knowledge level of the students then we
can group it according to their learning
capacity.
– Deliver it to students
- Sharing it to our students.
14. SYNCHRONOUS
Real-time peer-to-peer interaction and
collaboration
It involves online studies that are conducted with
the aid of chat rooms. This kind of learning can only
happen online. Online communication helps your
learners stay in touch with their teacher and fellow
students. It’s called synchronous learning because
the system allows students to ask their teacher or
fellow student’s questions instantly through instant
15. SYNCHRONOUS
APPLICATION
•Synchronous learning is the same as online
learning. All the activities happen online
•We must be knowledgeable to facilitate
activities online.
•We should prepare activities online such as
question and answer activities etc.
16. SYNCHRONOUS
APPLICATION
•We must think of reinforcements to
motivate their students online.
•Also, we should consider the materials
needed such as computer, laptops,
webcams, audios, good internet
connections and access to video
conferencing applications. Both teachers
17. ASYNCHRONOUS
Self-paced learning activities that take place
independently of the instructor
This method can be carried out online and offline.
It involves coursework delivered by web, email,
and message boards that are posted in online
forums. Students do not have access to instant
messaging through this online forum. A benefit of
asynchronous learning is that you’re able to
be self-paced.
18. ASYNCHRONOUS
APPLICATION
Synchronous learning is the same as online
learning but all the activities happen online
done through self-paced learning.
We don’t do instant or real-time
communication
We must be knowledgeable to facilitate
activities online.
We should prepare downloadable activities
19. ASSESSMENT
Basic Assessment Principle
•It should be aligned with the learning target
•Proper form of assessment (written and
performance) is decided based on the nature
of the learning target (learning competency)
•It is both formative and summative
20. ASSESSMENT
The Assessment Integration
– Things to consider in the integration:
- Provide equal assessment opportunities for all
learners
a. Recitations
b. Provide sample answers
c. Sit beside each student to check their work
progress in a portfolio (during face-to-face or
blended learning modalities)
d. During online, we, as an educator and facilitator,
can also provide recitations and questions using
21. ASSESSMENT
- Decide on instructional design based on the results
of assessment before instruction.
a. Conduct diagnostics
b. Immediately correct mistakes and clarify the
misconceptions
c. Provide resources to students on what they don’t
know
22. ASSESSMENT
- Spend time giving feedback on students work
a. Read short answers of students to distinguish
good and bad explanations
b. Allot time for feedback after each performance
c. Use the agreed upon criteria
- Use your observation of students work to build the
lesson
24. ASSESSMENT
APPLICATION
ONLINE
– We should construct assessments online.
– We can access to different applications to
construct assessment questions and activities.
– We should know the learning level of the
individual students especially the students with
special needs.
