5. CULTURE AND TRADITIONS OF
TELANGANA
HISTORY OF TELANGANA
Telangana is a region in the southern part of India, which was a part of the Andhra
Pradesh state until 2014. In that year, it was separated to become the 29th state of
India. Telangana has a rich history that dates back to the Satavahana dynasty,
which ruled the region from the 2nd century BCE to the 3rd century CE.
Festivals Celebrated In Telangana
Telangana is known for its colorful and vibrant festivals. Some of the major
festivals celebrated in Telangana include:-
• Bathukamma
• Bonalu
• Dussehra
• Ugadi
6. Art and craft of Telangana
Telangana has a rich tradition of arts and crafts, including
weaving, pottery, and metalwork. The handloom industry in
Telangana is famous for producing cotton and silk sarees, such as
Pochampally Ikat sarees.
Dance and music
Telangana is known for its unique dance forms, such as Perini
Sivatandavam,Gussadi dance, which is a martial art dance form
that originated in the 10th century. The state also has a rich
tradition of classical music, with Carnatic music being the most
popular.
Religion in Telangana
Telangana has a diverse religious population, with Hinduism being
the most widely practiced religion followed by Islam and
Christianity.

Telugu is the official language of Telangana, but other
languages such as Urdu, Hindi, and English are also widely
spoken.
Architecture in Telangana
Telangana is home to some of the most famous
architectural wonders in India, including the Charminar and
the Golconda Fort. The state's architecture is a blend of
Hindu, Islamic, and Mughal styles.
