Reporting findings, drawing
conclusions, and making
recommendations
Lesson2 Drawing Conclusions
1. Which choice shows words and phrases that
could signal a concluding paragraph?
A. before too long, for instance, and next
B. finally, in short, to summarize
C. of course and again, elsewhere
D. now, and then
2. Which of the following statements about conclusions is
FALSE?
A. A good conclusion must be at least two paragraphs
long.
B. In a short paper, a conclusion can be a few
sentences long
C. In some situations, a good conclusion can be a
single, strong sentence.
D. the last part is the idea of how you conclude your
work
3. This is a section in the research paper that focuses on
providing a comprehensive summary of the findings and
points out what were learned from the study.
a. Summary
b. Conclusion
c. Recommendations
d. References
4.Which of the following is NOT a purpose of the
research conclusion?
a. It stresses out the importance of the thesis
statement
b. It gives the written work a sense of completeness
c. It does not leave a final impression to the readers
d. It demonstrates good organization.
Hopscotch -
Hopscotch is an
old traditional
game that still
brings loads of
fun and
laughter in the
playground.
Directions: Students will be given two (2)
mystery questions. These mysteries should
be answered by providing answers to the
problems.
The aim of each group is to derive
conclusions from each scenario. Before
presenting their responses, they must leap
over the hopscotch and solve the math
challenges.
Math Challenge
Problem 1: Mary baked 24 cupcakes and
John baked 15 cupcakes. How many
cupcakes did they bake in total?
Problem 2: John has P25 and his friend
Sarah gives him P15. How much money
does John have now?
Outputs:
- Group 1 will present their conclusion
through choral reading
- Group 2 will have reading interpretation.
Rubrics:
Organization of thoughts - 5
Cooperation - 5
Overall Understanding - 5
Example: Situation:
Scientists have studied plate tectonics and have identified various factors that contribute to the movement of Earth's
tectonic plates. Consider the following scenario and select the correct cause of plate movement.
You notice that along a particular plate boundary, two plates are colliding. As a result of this collision, one plate is forced
beneath the other and sinks into the mantle. This process is known as subduction and often leads to the formation of
mountain ranges and volcanic activity. What is the cause of plate movement in this scenario?
A) Earth's rotation and axial tilt.
B) Gravitational pull from other planets.
C) Convection currents in the asthenosphere.
D) Compression and gravitational forces at plate boundaries.
Answer: D) Compression and gravitational forces at plate boundaries.
Explanation:
In this scenario, the cause of plate movement is compression and gravitational forces at plate boundaries. When two plates
collide, the leading edge of one plate is forced beneath the other due to the compressional forces exerted by the
convergent boundary. The force of gravity also plays a role as the denser plate sinks into the underlying mantle, a process
known as subduction. This movement of plates results in the formation of mountain ranges and volcanic activity, such as
the Andes or the Cascades.
Situation 1:
You observe that the Earth's lithosphere consists of several large
tectonic plates that are constantly in motion. Scientists have
studied plate tectonics and have identified potential causes for
this movement. What are the possible causes of plate
movement?
A) Volcanic eruptions and meteorite impacts.
B) Changes in ocean currents and wind patterns.
C) Gravitational pull from the Sun and the Moon.
D) Movement of the currents in the Earth's mantle.
Answer: D) Movement of the currents in the Earth's
Situation 2:
You examine the distribution of earthquakes and volcanic activity
across the globe. You notice that most earthquakes and volcanoes
occur along plate boundaries. Based on this observation, what are
the possible causes of plate movement?
A) Expansion and contraction of the Earth's crust.
B) Interactions between the Earth's magnetic field and the plates.
C) Geological forces exerted by underground minerals.
D) Forces generated at plate boundaries due to plate
interactions.
Answer 2: D) Forces generated at plate boundaries due to
Let the learners reflect on the activity through the
facilitation of these questions:
1.How do you see the importance of arriving at
conclusions through the given activity?
2.How did you come up with your answers?
3. Is drawing conclusions limited to academic
purposes only? If not, in what way it contributes
to other areas?
OBJECTIVES:
1. appreciate the significance
of the conclusion; and
2. draw conclusions from
situations, tables, and sample
research findings.
Rubrics:
Organization of thoughts - 5
Overall Understanding - 5
1. What are the
findings?
2. What
conclusion can be
derived from the
summary of
findings?

terms of Length of Service
Match the summary of findings to the given set of
conclusions. Explain your answer:
Summary of findings:
1. The researchers ascertain
that the frequent beneficiaries of
computer beneficiaries of
computers are students.
2. The researchers found out
that computer improves the
academic performance and
interest of students.
3. The researcher found out
that the computer is an effective
stress reliever.

commonly use computers to
lessen work.
3. The researchers concluded
that playing computer games or
using computers improves the
ability of a person to relieve
Please reflect on the importance of drawing
conclusions:
1.What are the striking lyrics that you
remember from the song?
2. What are the real-life scenarios that
helped you realize the importance of
drawing conclusions?
3. What conclusions can we derive from the
song? Complete, I, therefore, conclude
that conclusions are….
QUIZ:

  • 12. Example: Situation: Scientists have studied plate tectonics and have identified various factors that contribute to the movement of Earth's tectonic plates. Consider the following scenario and select the correct cause of plate movement. You notice that along a particular plate boundary, two plates are colliding. As a result of this collision, one plate is forced beneath the other and sinks into the mantle. This process is known as subduction and often leads to the formation of mountain ranges and volcanic activity. Explanation: In this scenario, the cause of plate movement is compression and gravitational forces at plate boundaries. When two plates collide, the leading edge of one plate is forced beneath the other due to the compressional forces exerted by the convergent boundary. The force of gravity also plays a role as the denser plate sinks into the underlying mantle, a process known as subduction. This movement of plates results in the formation of mountain ranges and volcanic activity, such as the Andes or the Cascades.

B) Changes in ocean currents and wind patterns. C) Gravitational pull from the Sun and the Moon. D) Movement of the currents in the Earth's mantle. Answer: D) Movement of the currents in the Earth's
  • 14. Situation 2: You examine the distribution of earthquakes and volcanic activity across the globe. You notice that most earthquakes and volcanoes occur along plate boundaries. Based on this observation, what are the possible causes of plate movement? A) Expansion and contraction of the Earth's crust. B) Interactions between the Earth's magnetic field and the plates. C) Geological forces exerted by underground minerals. D) Forces generated at plate boundaries due to plate interactions. Answer 2: D) Forces generated at plate boundaries due to

  7. Explanation: One of the primary causes of plate movement is convection currents in the Earth's mantle. Heat generated from the Earth's core drives these currents, which transfer heat through the mantle. As the mantle material heats up and becomes less dense, it rises. Once it reaches the top, it cools down, becomes denser, and sinks back down. This cyclic movement of material in the mantle creates a dragging effect on the overlying tectonic plates, leading to their motion.
  8. Explanation: The primary cause of plate movement is the forces generated at plate boundaries due to plate interactions. Plates can interact in three main ways: divergent boundaries (plates move apart), convergent boundaries (plates collide), and transform boundaries (plates slide past each other horizontally). These interactions lead to the build-up of stress and release of energy, resulting in earthquakes and volcanic activity. The occurrence of earthquakes and volcanoes along plate boundaries supports the conclusion that the forces generated at these boundaries cause plate movement.
