REVIEWSBy a Pint-sized Powerlifter
PITCH
I have been tasked to create a six-episode-long series of
movie reviews in association with Cineworld.
The concept of my idea is simple; playing on the idea that
people prefer watching shorter videos that don’t ramble
too much and get to the point quickly, ranging from 1
minute to 3 minutes long.
I took inspiration mainly from a YouTube and Instagram
channel called
Powered By Ice Cream
(recently renamed FamilyFoodDude)
RESEARCH
FamilyFoodDude / Fun Size Reviews
Eric Koenreich, age 36, runs his
YouTube and Instagram channels
based around reviews of junk food,
with his wife and son getting
involved. He also posts fitness and
‘fitspiration’ posts, encouraging a
healthy lifestyle and a balanced
attitude to fitness.
His review style is short, sharp, and to
the point; mainly because of the time
constraints that Instagram
impliments, limiting each video to
roughly 57 seconds (?). This, in turn,
has earned him over 10,000
Subscribers on YouTube, and 87,000
Instagram followers.
Jeremy Jahns
Subscriber Count – 1.4 million

without being overly formal)

- 30-40 minute long reviews

viewings’ and gaming videos, too

Channel Link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbxRYpuJqDU

Channel Link - https://youtu.be/iHGWpsPHSE8
Floor Plan
Each arrow in the diagram above represents a separate light, having chosen to use
Three-Point lighting in order to keep my reviews bright and well-illuminated. I will do
this by using the following:
- Key Light
- Fill Light
- Back Light
I chose this particular method because it has been used to great success in similar
products to my own, ranging from Photography Shoots to online videos, giving the
final piece a sharp image.
Episodes & Target Audience
Episode 1 – Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012)
Episode 2 – Juno (2007)
Episode 3 – Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986)
Episode 4 – The Breakfast Club (1985)
Episode 5 – 17 Again (2009)
Episode 6 – The Fault in Our Stars (2014)
Target Audience: Teenagers and Young Adults
The reason I chose to aim my product at teenagers (mainly) is because, despite
there being a plethora of channels out there aiming at different age groups, I feel
that this particular age group tends to be neglected. Most people brush off ‘teen’
films or coming of age stories as ‘cheesy’ and ‘uninteresting’, but I want to
present them in a way that makes them fun, and makes the audience want to
watch, even if only out of morbid interest (to see how bad the movie actually is).
Finance, Personnel, Contributors and Time
(Episode 1)
Kit Rental
Cost Per
Day
Days Cost
Canon
DSLR
£35 1 £35
Tripod £19 1 £19
Mic –
NTG2
£15 1 £15
Field
Recorder
£30 1 £30
I decided to give my series a homemade feel, so
thus do not need any fancy equipment to make
this happen. All I would need is a camera, tripod,
and microphone; the rest will fall into place on
the day.
Crew Hire Cost
Per Day
Unit Days Cost
Director £420 1 1 £420
Editor £346.50 1 1 £346.50
I am to be actor, director, producer,
writer, and editor, so thus the only
two I felt worth noting were the roles
of director and editor, seeing as it is a
solo project.
Facilities and Locacations
I am going to be filming on my college’s
campus, hopefully either within the TV
studio, or in the editing suite.
I am hoping to be able to use the editing
suite, as it would seem most appropriate
when in relation to the subject matter; with
possibly an image of whatever I am
reviewing on the double screens behind me.
I will not need written permission, as I am
doing this production via college; only verbal
will be needed.
Materials
No materials will be needed
other than, of course, my copy
of the DVD, and also the novel
itself.
Codes of Practice
First thing to note is the Fair Use Law
surrounding copyright for Perks of Being a
Wallflower. I will be able to use clips from the
film, as long as I provide more content than I am
taking.
This also applies to the soundtrack, as all music
within the film is licensed.

I will not need written permission, as I am doing this production via college; only verbal will be needed.
  • 14. Materials No materials will be needed other than, of course, my copy of the DVD, and also the novel itself.
  • 15. Codes of Practice First thing to note is the Fair Use Law surrounding copyright for Perks of Being a Wallflower. I will be able to use clips from the film, as long as I provide more content than I am taking. This also applies to the soundtrack, as all music within the film is licensed.
